Prior to the birth of Jesus, she would have been of the Jewish faith. More specifically, it would probably fall under the Orthodox denomination (don't know if that's the right word for Judaism but it should make sense).

She was Jewish. That is how you give birth to a Jewish child.
And Jesus was taught Judaism and that is why at 8 years old, he was giving talks in a Synagogue.
