OK.. here is a given for any beetle owner

YOU NEED TO BUY A DO IT YOURSELF MANUAL.

Chiltons, VW, 'How to keep your VW running forever' whatever flavor you buy , it should become your bible. This is not a bad thing.. the beetles are so easy to work on that it is easy to overtech things and the manual will answer almost all your questions.

The wiring diagram and fuse diagram in these books will give you all the info you need.

As a temporary fix, find an owner's manual for your car which will give you the fuse requirements.

first of all vw's before 1966 were all 6 volt systems and the fuses are what we call them european fuses..ceramic with the metal running thru them and the shape of a pill with **** on them..remembering them you have right and left head fuses radio, ignition, horn and maybe a battery 12+...so the glass fuses won't work...go to chiltons or online for a vw shop...1967 was the first of the 12 volts...i had one and i rebuilt from ground up...not the most rebuild was on '65 convertible and put a 283 chev in the back seat
