Why do you people do this? What if you are wrong? What if you are right, why are you wasting your time? Christians aren't perfect, we are humans and humans are hypocrites....just because you accept Christ doesn't make you perfect. What does science do for you? Does it make you strive to love people and truly care for them? Does it give you some sort of hope for the after life? If there is no hope then it doesn't really matter. Why would you try to discourage people who are happy in their faith?

How can one be so positive that there is no afterlife??? Christian, atheist, islamic, or whatever....it's foolish to think that it could not exist....there is no evidence? Of course not have you died yet? I choose to put my faith in the afterlife in the One who lived to tell about it. And a god did not cause people to kill, it was a sinful nature along with a misconception of who GOD really is. If when i die, i die and thats it...oh well i guess the jokes on me everybody be sure to point their fingers and laugh.

I'm not saying science is bad. I believe that God gave us brains and resources to use science to our benefit but science itself can not save anyone...it can only prolong their death.

Jesus answered it in John !5;
18"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.'[b] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. 22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. 23He who hates me hates my Father as well.

I don't bash the God that exists, I bash the one that murdered millions in the Old Testament of the Hebrew Bible. I am not wrong, you are if you believe the Bible is the word of God. Nothing is a waste of time:
"if nothing we do matters, then the only thing that matters is what we do"
Why don't you ask what good science does next time you do just about anything moron. Hope for the afterlife is just that, hope. It only makes things here less than they actually are (something you claim atheism does). People have murdered their children because they were convinced they were saving the kid's souls, if they hadn't killed them while they were innocent, they would have been corrupted by the evil world and gone to hell.
There is always hope for the future, things will get better. Someday, no one will starve, no one will die of illness, war won't exist. I just think we can do it, while you apparently think we will inevitably fail until rescued by Superman.
I love how people of faith always think all they're doing is being happy, and atheists are trying to ruin it for them. Actually they're trying to stop you from making certain people's lives hell because you disagree with them. Sorry if you aren't one of "those christians", but if so then you need to talk to your friends, they don't listen much to the other side.

You asked a lot of questions in here. I'll just buzz through them real quick.
1. The concept of an invisible man in the sky is illogical and ridiculous.
2. People who believe in the invisible, omnipotent sky-daddy are genuinely frightening to me. Irrationality is scary, because I cannot depend on those people, and their faith often leads them to immoral or dangerous decisions.
3. If I'm wrong, perhaps god will judge me not only on belief, but on actual merit of existence.
4. I'm not wasting my time if I'm right. I'm pointing out flaws in people's inane beliefs. That's satisfying to me.
5. Science makes accurate predictions and useful manipulations of the physical world, based upon empirical evidence.
6. No, science doesn't do that. My personal values and logical thought do that, though.
7. No, and there shouldn't be hope for an afterlife. That's a delusional school of thought. It's unhealthy. This is reality. There is nothing else. To think that there is something else without any kind of evidence is preposterous, and the hope is erroneous and unhealthy.
8. See answer 2.
Edit:
@emptywun:
I'm an atheist. I have hope. I have peace. I have joy. You obviously don't know what atheism is.
Edit:
You're right, an afterlife /could/ exist, but there's no reason to believe that one is certainly true, because of the lack of evidence. Besides, which is it? Valhalla? Reincarnation? Heaven? It could be anything. We have no knowledge. It is unhealthy to believe that it is true.

Why do you assume that people who do not believe in a god do not have hope? Isn't it possible to see life as an opportunity to enjoy yourself for as long as you have and in that time try to create a world you will be proud to hand down to your descendants. I am happy for others to have whatever faith they want. I just wish they would keep it to themselves and not try to force their values on others. Must admit there are some religions that have made great strides in this area but there are many cults and fundamentalists who are a menace to us all. To people like me who think these people are acting in the name of something that doesn't exist it is very disturbing.

The unfortunate fact is that too few people are comfortable and confident in their own beliefs--religious and otherwise--to just leave well enough alone. Just as Christians feel the need to draw others into Christianity athiests feel the need to "educate" people around them and make them into athiests.
The fact is that science and Christianity--and any other faith for that matter can peacefully co-exist. Unfortunately, nobody likes that idea.

Does science make you strive to care for people? Absolutely. The "golden rule" is sound science, as well as one of the few decent pieces of religion. But the notion of an afterlife is silly, and if you do religion, you are impaired at doing science -- and religion is not going to cure cancer or diabetes. The reason for discouraging people from faith is to get them to think rationally, and actually come up with real solutions to real problems, instead of hoping that Big Brother in the sky will do it. Not gonna happen; Big Brother is out to lunch. Permanently.

Like a previous poster said with scripture, those who claim to have the truth will always be bashed. This includes Atheists, Christians, Muslims, Heaven's Gate, etc. It just goes with the territory.
As a Christian, I do expect some degree of persecution.

I think's it's really disrespectful when people who aren't religious bash other religions or bash people who believe, because people who believe do not do this (well, most) to non-believers.
It's probably all done to 'burst their bubbles', to make them miserable. The devil's work... sorry, but it's true. and it's the same with a religious person, if they go up to a non-believer and say stuff like YOURE GOING TO HELL YOU LOSER then that person is just wrong as well..

Why did Jerry Fallwell (1932-2007) bash homosexuals?
Oh, yeah. I almost forgot--he later confessed to eating a
ton of crow.
Ah, well... as the old saying goes: "The bigger they are,
the harder they fall."
Rev. Jerry was a very big guy, when he fell!

We dont bash people who beleive in God, we only bash people who use "God" to justify their own hate and ignorence rather then use God open themselves to seek enlightenment of knowlege and cultural awareness.
