It wastes gas.
It screws up the traffic flow--traffic is smooth when everybody is doing the same speed.
Its harder to control the car, your reaction time stays the same but the time you have to react shortens so if somebody screws up you have less time to adjust.
Its illegal, you get tickets for speeding and that costs you money directly plus more importantly your insurance company raises your rates and in multiple cases can even cancel you and then in a lot of states it is illegal for you to even drive.
I don't like people to speed on my street. Kids skateboard, cats and dogs are in the street, old people--its selfish and stupid to drive irresponsibly.

There are two reasons why speeding tickets are given. One reason is to slow down all of the road rage and all of the aggressive drivers. It is common knowledge that the time pressures of life, and the tremendous stresses of everyday living causes people drive too aggressively and too fast. The second reason is that speeding tickets generate a tremendous amount of revenue for the local municipalities.

A speeding ticket of 1 to 14 miles over the limit is a 2 offense. A speeding ticket of 15 to 29 is a 4-point offense. Finally, a speeding ticket of 30 or more over the limit is a 5-point offense.

The energy released in an accident is Kinetic Energy. Speed increases the amount of energy released, which is why higher speed accidents are more violent.

The formula for Kinetic Energy is KE equals one-half the mass times the velocity squared. (KE=1/2M V(squared)).

Say car A weighs exactly the same as car B. For example, car A is traveling at 20 miles per hour and hits a tree. Car B is traveling at 60 miles per hour and hits a tree. Car B is traveling at 3 times the speed of car A, and since the velocity is squared in the formula, (3x3) car B would have 9 times the force when it struck the tree.

This is why an accident at 20 mph is usually damaging to the car, and why an accident at 60 mph is often fatal.

Its all about momentum. Momentum is the force of a mass in a specific direction. The mass of a car is between 2000 and 5000 pounds. Apply acceleration to that much mass to reach speeds over the legal speed limit, and it becomes uncontrollable under certain conditions. Reaction time is greatly increased in reference to distance traveled, stopping time is also greatly increased due to the momentum the car has built up at that illegal speed. Hence, loss of positive control in cases where control would be positive at legal speeds.

well the curves on the road for one, sometimes the curveyness of a road is too much and if we go too fast the driver will lose control of the car. The government tries to prevent this; by posting speed limits people will know how fast they can go without losing control of their car. Many accidents happen on a bend in the road due to speeding.

Speeding is utter stupidity, and irresponsible to the needs of other road users.
Take the story of the tortoise and the hare; who was worn out the most?
Vehicles are like your own body: it needs to be cared for.

it makes accidents worse, more damage, more severe injuries. I would imagine it also enrages people. after doing something so aggressive, people tend to want more and trying to find that type of adrenaline rush perhaps constantly could be dangerous in everday life
