He is a big chocolate lab and I just had the back yard fenced in. I was thinking about putting in a cobblestone walk way with a little wood shed that has a front porch on it. Planting some bushes and putting a ground fountain with some pretty landscaping in the back so it would be more homey for him and a hobby for me. Do you think it would work or will he trash it all?

Does your dog dig? If so, don't even think about doing all that cool stuff! lol..if not, I would try a few ideas at first and then see how it works. Just don't do it all at once...do it slowly to give your dog time to adjust! Sounds really neat tho! :)

Well if you teach him to respect things, your house, your stuff, he's likely to leave the little shed alone.. I would kiss the bushes good bye, and that fountain with a chocolate lab.. Well let's just say if he doesn't drink it all, he'll be swimming it all the time.. I say 50/50 chance that the whole thing stays the way you have it pictured in your mind..

As long as you provide an outlet for this energetic Labrador, he will have no desire to trash your lovely backyard.
A bored dog will want to dig, thrash, and eat everything in sight.
But if you exercise and play with your dog enough and not just leave him in the backyard all day, he will have no desire to mess around.
He may want to take a dip in the fountain to cool down, but there is nothing wrong with that:)

My recomedititon would be to start cheap and work my way up. see if he is okay with the changes and is respecting every thing but if he has to be taught at least it will be cheap. The fountian will be the hardest it is hard to keep any dog out of water but a lab they were breed for it and that might be a chalange.
