This has been asked before, but I have 6 Cockatiels 3 females and 3 males. Don't know if the eggs are fertile or not. How would I tell? Also, what do I do with the eggs.

If you cockatiel layed and egg you should do nothing with the egg. Let her sit on it till she gets tired of it. You will need to feed her lots of extra calcium though as laying eggs depletes the birds of calcium. After about a week if you can get at the egg you can candle it. Look up egg candling on the web to find out how to do it to tell if it is fertile or not. If the egg turns out fertile you will want to find someone who can show you how to hand feed babies in case she turns out to be a poor first time mother. If you don't even want to think of the egg hatching then take it out and boil it and give it back to her after it has cooled or replace it with a fake egg.

You can candle the eggs. That means hold them up to a naked light buLB and look through the shell for fertilized eggs. It will show through the shell.
So what do you do with the eggs???
Well that choice is obvious, either let the pair set the eggs or toss them in the trash, if you cannot handle more birds.
But the choice is yours not mine. I would have kept the males and females separate and not have had this dilemma!

If you don't have a box then it probably won't hatch. But if a cockatiel is trying to take care of it then bring the vet over to check it out...DON'T MOVE THE EGG....You could damage it.

chances are its not fertile so throw it out i think if you hold a flashlight up against it you can see if there is a lil baby or not
