Anything light and red - a shiraz or merlot (or a blend of both) - if you can get it try Brown Brothers Syrah and Dolcetta - serve chilled (it's an Aussie wine - very light & fruity - perfect for an informal dinner).

When you pair wine and food these days, there are no rules. You could have your favorite. Beef burgers are pretty versatile for most wines. If the wine has some oak aging, it will bring out the smokiness in the food. Being summer, try a California Pinot Noir. Light in style (about 12% alcohol) and a slight smokiness to match your food. For a white anything crisp will be a good match. Look for a young wine, 2005-2006.

Bold red wines pair well with red meat, try Zinfandels, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz/Syrah, or Pinot Noir. A lighter white wine is good with veggies, like Riesling. I think a Pinot Noir would pair with both the burgers and veggies.

Try a Bordeaux blend (cabernet-merlot-cabernet franc) from either France or California. Burgers can have an overpowering flavor on lighter red wines like Pinot Noirs. My favorite one to go with my burger is Treana red from Paso Robles.

Any full-bodied red will do. Since it's burgers, Zinfandel would be a more economic choice. Try Chateau Montelena. They make a good, drinkable, food-friendly Zin. Turnbull Old Bull Red and Turnbull Cabernet would also be good.

i usually have zinfandel (the red kind not the pink stuff) or Shiraz/Syrah. My current fave is Cline Zinfandel or Ravenswood Zinfandel. Both usually under $10 at Cost Plus World market.
the zin & shiraz can hold up quite well to the smokey bbq. And usually are my staple reds during the summer time.

I think some kind of white wine would be best. A fruity or flowery wine probably wouldn't be the best. I don't think it would taste too good with the meat and cheese. Personally I think if you're gonna have a cheeseburger the only thing that'll go with it is a nice cold beer. But that's my opinion.

Zinfandel would be perfect with grilled burgers. This is one of my favorites:
Renwood 2003 Old Vine ZinfandelThe 2003
Old Vine Zinfandel is medium ruby in color. The bouquet consists of brown sugar, caramel, sage, eucalyptus, and bursting with dark berry fruit. The flavor is a sumptuous blend of warm blackberries on the entry, with a hint of dried fruit, finishing with sweet fleshy tannins.($19.49)
If you can find Rosenblum Zinfandel Cuvee it is a bargain at around $10 a bottle.

Got a Trader Joe's where you live? Just pick up some Charles Shaw cabernet if so. It's $2, and it'll go just fine with burgers.
If you want something classy and inexpensive for an after-dinner wine, go with Blue Nun.

Don't worry about what wine snobs tell you goes together. The wine you serve is the wine you like. If you new to wine try Beringer, a white zin or chennin blanc (my Favorite). If you already know what you like then get that.
