If I remember correctly, he is saying that people who never feel pain (wound) have no right to claim that they have suffered (scars). So, don't pretend that you understand something if you've never experienced it.

He's talking to benvolio about being in love with Juliet. Benvolio was criticizing Romeo for loving Juliet and Romeo is is basically telling him to shut up, he doesn't know anything about being in love or what its like because he has never been before.

lol i just read this play a couple hours ago. it means that this person laughs at romeo's problems but he never felt the pain of the wounds to know how bad it feels. also try looking up no fear shakespeare -romeo and juliet online and itll let you read it online. what it is is that it gives you the quoted from the original play and translates them into modern day english in another column. it really helps to understand it better. hope i helped . :))

I think that is Romeo saying he has completely moved on.... his friends are making fun of his feelings for Rosaline, but now that he's found Juliet, he's saying he never loved Rosaline anyway.

I think what Romeo is suggesting is that Mercutio is making fun of him for saying he loves Rosaline one minute to saying he loves Juliet the next.

He's also, more literally, saying that Mercutio is joking about something (serious feelings of love) that he doesn't know anything about.

I would interpret this as meaning scars of the heart and soul not scars and physical wounds of the flesh/body.
Hope this helps

Being in R/J, it's about love, but generally it is an observance of the tendency in humans to make light of things they know nothing about.

he - any person

jests at scars - makes fun of other people's pains or sorrows

never felt a wound - has never felt pain or has been in sorrow before.

therefore, it means: any person who makes fun of other people's pains or sorrows has never felt pain or has been in sorow before...
