I fully support him. I love him with all my heart and if this is what he wants, I am on board fully. I realize that this is a big lifestyle change, but he seems so intent, and I know our relationship is strong enough to pull through. If he does make the final choice to go, I look forward to being an army wife and taking care of him!
And a few more questions:
-He will only have his associates degree, how much will it pay monthly? Will we get housing and all the other stuff? (This is important b/c we are going to start a family soon.)
-How long would he be gone at a time? (For training and everything else)
-Is there a high likelihood he would be deployed to Iraq?
...And anything else you can think of that would help! Thanks a ton!

Why yes, it is a typo. But besides certain people pointing out the typo made, I would like the question answered. PLEASE spare me if you know nothing about this subject...especially if you are simply here to point out typos.
THANKS!

OK, As a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer I can garuntee that the odds are he will deploy somewhere. To all those that say his rating matters that's true to some extent.
Every job in the Navy has a Sea to Shore rotation. That means that during an enlistment he will server a certain amount aboard a ship and then be able to transfer to a shore command. There are very few jobs that have a 0 sea rotation.
Almost every person leaving their class A school will get a sea duty assignment as their first duty. During a Sea duty assighnment (Usually a 3 year tour of duty) the ship will make at least one Medeterainian or Western pacific cruise of 6 months. When they are not making those deployments they are still underway a good portion of the time doing verious excersises and certifications. It's just the way of the Navy to be at Sea.
Besides Job Ship class plays an important part in how often he will be at sea. Let's face it, if he's on a west coast carrier he will more than likely see duty off the coast of Iraq.
There are so many veriables to your question. If at all possible I would suggest waiting till after the first year to start a family. I think family is great but the pressures of getting through his "A" school training (If enlisted) and then the termoil of getting settled into Navy life will be plenty of work and stress for both of you.

is it Navy, or is it Army? either way.. the chance of being deployed is 100 %. it's just a matter of when, where and how he deploys.
a 2 year degree will get him E3 in the Navy. base pay will be based on paygrade and Time in service.
Housing: depends. NO during Boot camp and probably A school(unless it is longer than six months long) but as a married SM, he will be entitled to Basic Allowance for housing. this amount varies greatly depending on location and type of orders. Military Family Housing and it's availability also varies greatly from base to base as well as the bedroom entitlement. somebases you can get in right away, in others, you have to wait a year or longer.
Training: Boot is 9 weeks long. No cell phones, no emails, he might be able to send you a letter and he MIGHT earn a phone call or two. A school: can be anywhere from 10 days long to 2 years or more.
Sea duty: underway periods can last a day to 9-12 months. he could be gone Mon-Fri and home for the weekends, or two weeks here, home for a week, then out for a month.
Iraq: count on it. some ratings have a MUCH higher probability, such as HM, any of the SeaBee ratings and a fair number of Admin ratings are serving as Individual Augmentees for 12 month deployments on the ground. and there are plenty of ships in the area watching over and trying to snag smugglers.

His chances of being deployed to Iraq depends on what is going on with the war by the time he finishes his training (which takes anywhere from a couple of months to a year or so). The pay depends on what rank he enters the military at. Of course officers make more than enlisted men but unfortunately it will not be a kings ransom no matter what the rank. Take heart though the Navy does provide housing or housing allowance (if you choose to live off base). There is also free medical. Most deployments are for 6 months but if he is on sea duty expect to him to do some short tours for anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks in between the long deployments. In other words he will be gone alot. When he is on shore duty he wont deploy at all. The Navy wives are always great support for each other so look to them when hes gone and you need some support of your own. Good luck with everything

Your question is hard to answer, His trade will greatly effect where he will go to school, how long the school will be and what type of command he will be sent to. If you check with any recruiter they can give your pay charts and allowances that he would be in titled to at each pay grade.
If assigned to a sea command 6mo deployments are the norm. There are duty section rotations which take up time.
They have tapped and trained Navy personnel to perform patrols in Irac, but the numbers are small.
Chances on being deployed are very good, I did 20 years made 6 6-month deployments 1 4-month and to many one month ready ex or work up deployments to remember, I spent roughly 15 years assigned to ships and 5 on shore duty
it is not a 9 to 5 job.

It really depends on what his job is in the navy.. or will be. If he is an accounts clerk, only a slight chance of deploment. i know quite a few accounts clerks, and admin ppl, dentists etc that have served for over 22 years, and never saw combat or deployment. however, if he is going into signals or communications or anything like that, start saying your goodbyes.
i think american deployment periods are now 15 month stints. please correct me if im wrong, i know they used to be 12 months. Royal Australian Army deploy for 6 months.
Yes you will get housing benefits. He will also get a pay rise as when you have a child he gets a "dependent bonus".
As for deployment pay, im not sure. Australian soldiers are looking at something in the area of AUD $2000 - $3000 a week tax free.
Hope that helps somewhat.

first you say navy then you say army ?
Deployments varies for each rating in the Navy.
99.9% of the navy does not deploy to Iraq.
they do deployments to the Gulf. doing lots of circles in the ocean.
