Our insurance will be covering 100% of our roof from a wind/hail storm. We have 3 tab shingles now and we want dimensional shingles since they are stronger and look better as well. Will our insurance cover the upgrade or do they cover the exact same thing we have now?

Typically, the insurance company will only pay to replace with like kind and quality. Unfortunately, they do not pay for upgrades.

Not likely. Most insurance covers replacement only. You could talk to whoever does the roofing and see how much extra it would cost you.
