He's not dead, He rose again. That's why we worship Him.

I'd rather worship a 2000 year old dead guy and later find out he is God rather than live entirely rational, and then die and find out I neglected the Supreme Being.

Fishing for a snappy comeback??
Here's where you missed, that guy ain't dead...hundreds of witnesses saw the Man up and around (they were so convinced they would rather die than change their story....that's pretty convinced!) on the third day.
Why do I worship Him? Because of all the people to ever draw a breath on this Earth, He alone is worthy.

I don't, I worship the eternal Son of God.
"Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of his head were white like wool, as white as snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying,
"Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. Revelation 1:12-18
"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:11-16

Because He didn't stay dead for long. Also, because He is the Son of God.

Actually, it is God alone you must worship, not his son.
Jesus? alive for much longer than 2000 years, although he did do a 33.5 year stint on the earth, died for three days and was brought back to life. Of course now he lives elsewhere. Yet I still do not worship him. (I'm gonna take hits from the trinitarians, but that's to be expected).

1. He died for our sins. (would any of your friends do that for you?)
2. There HAS to be something better than what is on Earth (no more pain and suffering)
