Why do you say this? Is this really what you've experienced? I don't see as many Christians that are as pushy and hypocritical as you say their are. I see people say this all the time and I wish they'd stop.

I like crystallinectar's answer best so far. I know many Christians can be hypocritical but not most. It just bothers me when people act like most Christians are.

Again, i can't say that no Christians are pushy, I know some can be, but most aren't. And, why are some of you saying I'm being hypocritical?

I agree, I'm sure everyone has been hypocritical about something at some time.

And yes, many Christians may encourage you to try to part with sins and often reference the ten commandments and such, but every single Christian I know would admit that they need to work on certain aspects of their life and certain sins just as much as you do.

Although this is a completely different subject, I just want to say something. I see many people talking about how Christians hate gays and that it's wrong of them to. I want to say I agree with you 100% Why? Well, I do believe that homosexuality is a sin, but so is lying , lust, greed etc. I see way to much hatred toward gays in many Christians, should we hate those that lie?
NO! Christians have sins just like the rest of the world and just because you think your sins are minuscule compared to those of someone else, doesn't mean you aren't guilty of sin yourself.
Now, don't turn this into a discussion about why I would believe homosexuality is a sin, I just wanted to express my feelings concerning hatred toward gays.

I could not even begin to imagine being pushy was many Christians are apparently perceived. How could you possibly force your beliefs on someone, is that really gona help?
By the way, I do recall seeing someone say that they have some Christian friends whom they spend most of their time arguing with.
This is just sad, in my opinion, how can you be friends with someone just to argue with them all day about your beliefs?

not most. but a lot, yes.
there's that whole thing in the bible about not judging, but a lot of them judge. and on something as trite as the fact that not everyone believes in their god. it's pathetic.
again, not all of them are like this, but a good portion are. that's a fact.

Most christians are Hypocrites. It is the truth. Most christians don't practice the doctrine of Christ. Let alone obey the Lord Gods commandments. When a "Christian" can go sing in the church choir on Sunday morning and be tired from a long night of partying, that is hypocritical. When a "Christian" can curse someones head off on there cell phone an call someone else not long after and bless them, that is hypocritical. When a "Christian" can give quotes from the bible that do not even exist, that is hypocritical. When the bible preaches against homosexuality or as scripture calls it, unnatural lusts and so many preachers and priests are being exposed as petiphiles and gays, that is hypocritical.
Remember, you asked. And yes, I am a devout Christian with everyday struggles like every other true believer. But I am obedient to the Gospel and repentant of sin.

I agree with you. I think some christians are hypocritical. But I know more who are not. I hate that the pushy christians give us all bad names. I dont push my friends around I like to lead by example and I hope non believers see by the way I live my life what an impact God has on me. And maybe make a change. It is not our spot to judge anyone. We should be friends to everyone. I agree with someone above we are all hypocritical at some point. It is not our place to condemn. But I am being judged for bieng a Christian. I have a very close friend who is homosexual. I have never pushed my religion on him. I will say I pray for him daily as I do many others. I am a christian I do not go to church every Sunday. But I know who my Savior is. Give Christians a chance we are not all bible slapping, Amen screaming, Uptight people.

Hypocrisy is to tell others not to do something while they do it themselves. Everyone is a hypocrite. Everyone, at some point, has told other people not to lie or has acted or behaved as if lying is bad and shouldn't be done. Everyone, at some point, has said something that was either directly a lie or was the truth intended to mislead.
So, yeah, all religious people are hypocrites because all people are.
As for the pushy, no, not all of them are; but the ones that are pushy, more than make up for it. Just open any question that doesn't agree with their religious views and you'll see it. That's not to say that other people with differen religious beliefs aren't pushy as well.

I have witnessed this a lot.
I had a friend when I was at university who would tell me that I wasn't Christian cause I didn't go to church on Sundays or study the bible weekly, but then he would turn around and say "how can you believe in evolution when your Christian" - so he would consider me Christian when it suited him. And just to note, since that time I have made the choice to be an atheist, which is something I do believe in.
This same guy would say, "I'm not prejudices BUT, I don't believe in homosexuality, abortion because I am Christian" - I would rather him say he was prejudice than say what he did cause he made him sound a hypocrite due to not taking responsibility for what he believes, if your going to believe something than take ownership of it.
Also - how can someone say "love thy neighb\ur" yet then say "homosexuals are sinners and are going to hell - isn't that a contradiction to what they are meant to believe about treating all equally, and brotherly love.
So yes I do think that there are Christians who are hypocritical.

I like what you said about homosexuality. It seems many Christians, and Churches focus on some types of sin (sexual sins, mainly) and they don't focus much on other types of sin. Whose to say which sins are the worst?
I wish people wouldn't generalize quite so much, based on some religious people being hypocritical. The religious people I know mostly try hard to be sincere, and I don't see that they are hypocritical (as a whole) - I respect that most of them really try to live the way that they see as right, in most areas of their lives. I wish people would be less quick to judge, and show respect to others (and other beliefs) where they can.

I try to be a religious person, and I find it is very difficult to do so without being hypocritical. Why? Because in trying to follow Christ we are called to love everyone, even our enemies, as if they were ourselves. This is tremendously difficult. It is almost inevitable that at some point during the day you are going to love yourself more than those around you, and presto you have in a sense become a hypocrite because this is exactly what you resolved not to do. I also notice that those who deny Christ are also hypocritical, because even though they reject Him every now and then they love someone else more than themselves, and so they end up following Him. So we are all a bunch of crazy hypocritical people hoping that one day God will reach out his hand and give us the love that we struggle to show each other.

You can wish all you like, but that IS the experience of many people.
I'm not suprised you don't see the pushy part - you are already Christian, so they don't have to concern themselves with your conversion.
If you've not seen the hypocritical behavior, then be glad you are among a good group of Christians. Cherish that, enjoy that, since it does seem to be rare.

everyone is hypocritical. All of us are. Do you put on a "nice" face when facing the clerk at your mini mart when you are really mad because you woke up late and are on a time schedule?. So you don't feel like being nice, but you do, because Jesus wants it that way. But in the end run, your a bit angry because now you are late for work. Who's fault is it? Do you play nice when it comes to your boss? your teacher?
If all Christians would be "who they really are" instead of being the "oh goodness, I need Jesus to help me now" people wouldn't judge them so much and realize they are just regular folk like us.

I don't know what cardboard box you came out of but it has been happening for years. Just look at the way most Christians look upon gays with disgust and disdain. They claim this book called the bible which is nothing more than mythology at this point tells them that this God character doesn't go for this. That takes nerve. If you give me a thumbs down you accept what I say as the truth!

I wouldn't say that most religious people are hypocritical, but I would say that a lot of them are.
And honestly...of course you don't see "pushy" Christians if you are a Christian. They aren't trying to convert YOU. No one needs to be pushy to the people on their own team.
