Honestly ... if I would have that ... why would I need to immigrate ?
The Emblem of the statue of liberty says this :
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."
Isnt a contradiction to the immigration laws we have now, to me it is.

Katie: You should be smart enough to know that you cant categorize a whole group of people by what a few do.

The statement on the Statue of Liberty is a nice sentiment but it is not law. If we follow that today America will soon be overrun and cease being America. The statement is meant to be an inspiration not a suicide pact.
If America needs talented engineers, scientists etc. then priority should be given to these. Wealthy people tend to be productive and useful as investors creating employment so priority should be given to these as well.
There is little need for unskilled labor, therefor, there is little opportunity for such people and that means they are much more likely to be a liability to America than an asset. Therefor they should be limited.

So by your logic, if it said something 130+ years ago, it must still hold true today, even if the times have changed and we have to limit the amount of people taking advantage of this country and co opting it for their own purposes without giving anything back in return.
Therefore, slavery would be Ok in your book right? I mean, it worked around 140+ years ago, why not today?
Ohhhhh! It made sense AT THE TIME...but after awhile, people realized it no longer worked and it was abolished.
The statue of liberty is a special thing in this country, however you can't take everything at face value and assume that it will work in perpetuity.
Sometimes you have to use your head. Besides, no one is saying you CAN'T come to America, but if we allow nothing but the bottom 3rd of every third world nation on the planet to come here, the next step is that America will become a 3rd world nation itself.

Actually the priority for IMMIGRATION are families.
But getting a TOURIST visa is difficult to obtain if you are from a high immigrant quota country. You need to provide proof that you will go back to your home country - thus you need to have money, and a really darn good reason for the interviewing consul to believe you are not going to just use the tourist visa as an excuse to immigrate illegally.

I have a welcome mat on my front door, but that doesn't mean
that I want to have a guest move in an eat me out of house and home, and besides it was a gift from the french and it would have been rude to not accept it. Unlike about 12 20 million illegals that just showed up over a period of 20 years, and now demand that we give them their rights and our right too.

No because our forefathers did not design this country to welcome the poor, the felons, the unskilled to come with their hands out while the rich, the workers and the taxpayers educate their kids, give them FREE health care and food and a roof over their heads. Most immigrants take money they get and send BACK to their homeland and most never become citizens at all. They take but not give.
Are you not getting it??

No. The statement on the Statue of Liberty was never national policy. It was a good solid rim job foisted upon us by France. Of course that's no surprise they've been screwing the world for years.

guess what happened to him!!!
HE GOT THREE DAYS IN JAIL AND 3 YEARS PROBATION!!! WTF!!!
