Speaking for security prevention ,I carry a handgun and to tell you that I need it, Yes!!! Many of today's crime involve a weapon and to prevent a possible crime ,an officer with a sidearm in plain view will detour a criminal ,or at least have second thoughts before committing a crime . Not all officers are commissioned to carry a firearm but crime prevention pays a lot more knowing that your not an easy target.

Well, i can either choose to defend myself, or i can let the Authorities handle the situation.
If the authorities handle the situation, there's a good chance I'm dead upon their arrival.
The average police response time is something like four minutes. Most "shootouts" average about 12 seconds (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
You do the math...
Having lived in St. louis for a substantial portion of my life, there were many, many, many times i adverted a potential attack by drawing my weapon. Had i not had my sidearm, i could very well be dead right now.
I choose to arm myself, but it's just a matter of personal preference.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people. If it's not a gun, it's a car. If it's not a car, it's a knife... etc.

If you were in a room with ten people and new nine of them had guns, would you risk robbing any of them in the off chance you might find the one unarmed person in the room. I did'nt think so. Therefore a crime was prevented just by the simple fact that law abiding people were armed.

just what bjorn said

what most people don't realize is that so much crime is actually averted without a shot being fired because of responsible gun ownership. you won't ever hear about such incidents n the mass media because it doesn't fit in with their socialist agenda to report it. I don't understand why someone would rather be a victim instead of prepared for the worst....because odds are, the worst will happen and believe me, criminals can spot a victim a mile away.

Some people prefer to be able to defend themselves in time of need and not become victims. The police arrive after the fact and after the damage is done. Their job is to catch criminals.

Who protects you? You do! Or you are a victim waiting to happen. And some criminal will be more than glad to help you realize that destiny.

If a criminal attacks you and you have a concealed weapon, you will be able to defend yourself and not be victimized. Just displaying the weapon will usually scare off a criminal. If you know how to properly handle the weapon and have a permit to carry, why not?

I guess it makes them feel safer. I'm glad that my dad carries a gun and is trained in how to use it; I love my dad and I feel safer on his behalf, bc he carries a weapon.

Me? Well, let's just say my life would be more in danger if I carried a weapon.
