It makes me feel better about myself. I think that there are many reasons for this. I have more energy. I fit in my clothes. I get compliments. I work out stress. I consider it a challenge and I don't want to give in. I feel as though I am accomplishing something. I am sure that I could name more, but you get the idea.
Although some of the things I mentioned are outside motivations, overall I don't think that you can be motivated by what other people think. It has to come from within. You have to want to do it because you want to. Not because of what other people say or think. Try to think of it as part of who you are and not something extra or a chore.
Good luck.

It's not WHAT it's more like WHO...a group of peers is the best motivation to exercise. You're somewhat accountable to each other. A team effort.

I am motivated by the way I feel after I excercise. If you work out on a regular basis your mood will be lifted, you will sleep better, live a longer and healthier life and your body looks better.
I've heard (from a personal trainer) that it takes three weeks to form a habit. If you can work out consistently for three weeks you are much more likely to continue that habit.
I know for myself that if I've fallen off the wagon I need to push myself to work out regularly for three weeks. After that I start to crave my cardio! Almost as much as I crave chocolate! : )
Good luck!

Kicking a lawyers a** motivates me. After that I like to beat the p*** out of a debt collector. Then I lift my weights. Feels great!

I feel better when I exercise. I'm happier and I'm able to handle stress. I teach and my students can tell the difference in my mood if I haven't been exercising regularly. We're all much happier when I work out!

so I can keep up with my kids because they are always running around the house and if I don't stop them in time then I end up having to clean up a mess. my children are always getting into things. but it also helps me keep in better shape too.

Are you kidding me?? Nothing. Oh wait, when I'm in the shower and look down, that's always scary. Also when I'm shopping and look repulsively gross. Yeah, those two things make we wanna go run...or die. Either one.

I enjoy it. Prior to that, I treated it like a decision.
