and the tornado in kansas a few weeks ago and the forest fires in the south, northeast and west? isn't that retaliation for someones sins too or is it only directed towards the sinners when a religious person interprets it that way and other instances of natures wrath is just everyday part of god's plan kind of stuff which he has on his regular schedule of events?

It is global warming. The people who said New Orleans was punished by God are ignorant and cruel. But the Earth's inhabitants are reaping karma for fossil fuel burning...

Katrina replaced into no longer a punishment to New Orleans or the Gulf Coast. Hurricanes are organic events or perhaps if no relaxing to undergo they do play a mandatory place--factors usually tormented by potential of the monsoon season could grow to be desert without the storms, and extremely some tens of millions could starve. Katrina replaced into fierce yet no longer unheard of, and grew to grow to be a catastrophe as a results of fact guy has destroyed most of the organic barrier alongside the Gulf Coast. the present situations are generally a effect of l. a. Nina, and as quickly as returned made worse as a results of fact we've outfitted in places that are probable to be tormented by potential of tornadoes and wildfire.

Katrina was NOT a punishment to New Orleans or the Gulf Coast. Hurricanes are natural events and although no fun to endure they do play a necessary role--areas commonly affected by the monsoon season would become desert without the storms, and many millions would starve.

Katrina was fierce but not unprecedented, and became a disaster because man has destroyed so much of the natural barrier along the Gulf Coast.

The current conditions are mostly a result of La Nina, and once again made worse because we have built in places that are likely to be affected by tornadoes and wildfire.

I'm no preacher, but didn't Jesus Himself predict that as the end of the world drew nearer, natural disasters would occur more frequently. What did He call it - "birth pains"? And for Pete's sake, God didn't cause any of those to happen! Things such as those have occured all over the world every day of history. But we choose to see what we want to see, and ignore the good days, and blame God for all that happens that is bad. For instance, what do we concentrate on the most in the Iraqi war - the rescued soldiers, those who survive, or the dead? That's easy - the dead. I am not saying we should mourn over those brave people who have lost their lives, but compare the death toll to that of World War 1 or WW2, and in those wars, thousands died every day compared to the half dozen now. And yet, people are screaming to pull our soldiers out of Iraq, that they are "getting slaughtered over there", but they're not. All the bad in life and nature's little and big disasters can be traced back to a certain Garden of Eden, a Tree, God's command, a serpent named Satan, and two people called Adam and Eve. The bad in our lives is brought on us by our ancestor's decision. But there, as I've said before, I'm no expert, and not a preacher, just a teenage Christian girl wondering why in the world people are always blaming God for their problems and disasters.

God is not punishing New Orleans or Kansas. Or the Tsunami victims, or the World Trade Center victims.
Prophecy is simply coming to pass.

LU 21
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
11 And great EARTHQUAKES shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

If drought is God's punishment, we're currently blessed down in Texas.

What drought? We've had loads of rain but not too much and more is expected tomorrow. I'd say tornadoes, hurricanes, and other natural phenomenon are just events that happen.

God didn't "punish" New Orleans or anyone else. We live in a fallen world in which bad things happen. God allows us to be in the middle of bad things so that He can show how awesome He is. He wants us to turn to Him during times of chaos b/c He offers perfect peace.

No no no..........don't go putting a religious spin on this . Nature and its' forces, and humans and their unpreparedness ....the governments lack of response cost so many lives.... take a look,,,they are not rebuilding the cities poor areas. You know the government has the resources to do better than this. No one could have prevented where Katrina struck,,,,but it certainly is shameful how little how been done to rebuild this area and bring the families back to their homes, friends, and neighborhoods.

this is not punishment, this is the Prophecy coming to pass!!
God gives everyone on earth a chance to repent of their sins. Sometimes, he gives them more than one calling, then if they do not heed, and believe, and give their life to Him, they must suffer the consequences, and disasters like the ones mentioned is the consequences of an unbelieving world, and people!
