We've tried a bath mat. Basically everything we can to make it a pleasant experience for her but the minute the water is turned on either with the shower head over the bath (in my hand) or the garden hose. She just makes a run for it! We tried to force her but that led to it being a bad experience for us too and she just screamed the place down. We've tried everything we can but we don't know her past so we can't find out what has caused this problem. PLEASE can you help us, we've come so far with her but this is now the only stumbling block and there is no information on the internet (that we can find), except how to bathe her. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For now I would just use the dry shampoos on her. I think if you gradually introduce her to water then at some point she may trust you to give her a bath. Its going to take a lot of pacients on you part but the slow and steady way usually brings them around.
Good luck!

I don't know how practical this is for you- but you could try having the water already in the tub and let her look it over. Or you could even get in the tub with her. Since she seems to be afraid of running water, you may wish to use a cup to rinse her off.

Meanwhile, you could have her out in the yard while you're washing the car for instance. Don't make a huge fuss over her: Just let her see that the water and the hose is nothing to be afraid of.

Good luck!

my dog is terrified of the water hose too. we now have a walk-in shower and i get in there with him to wash him and he cant run off and i talk to him soothingly while i do it BUT before that i tied him up in the yard and washed him with a sponge and a bucket while petting him and talking to him and he was fine with that :)

You should maybe lightly spray water from a spray bottle onto her and maybe then start a quiet hose. Start with her feet! Then move around.
