There are a lot of ignorant people in the NASCAR nation. Just look at the Earnhardt groupies who threw trash on the track--ignorant people.
Now, look at the ignorant people trashing Juan Montoya.
Montoya is the ONLY driver to have ever won the North American open-wheel CART title, the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Daytona--ALL OF THESE TITLES IN HIS VERY FIRST ATTEMPT! Montoya won his first NASCAR race earlier this year in Mexico City in VERY dramatic fashion, putting on a driving exhibition few NASCAR drivers could ever dream of matching.
Montoya won the F3000 title.
Montoay is one of only two drivers to win the Monaco Grand Prix (the most difficult race in autoracing) and the Indy 500.
Montoya is one of only two racers to have won the CART title in his rookie year.
Montoya has victories in NASCAR (earlier this year in Mexico City), Grand-Am series, Champcars, Indy cars and Formula 1.
Simply put--Montoya has a better resume than ANY other NASCAR driver.
Montoya does NOT chew tobacco, talk like a hick and have a red neck--this is why Montoya, Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson are all hated.
Oh,.......... by the way, all three of these drivers are winners. This is why Montoya, Johnson and Gordon are hated. Let the slobs and the hicks hate these guys and let them love Earnhardt. I could care less what the morons do. I just go on whatching these three guys display their talent. Montoya will dominate once he gains more stock car time.

Yes, I noticed that poll. As disappointing as it was to see Juan Pablo Montoya give the race away, that is what he did. There are a lot of people who buy into the victim mentality/vast conspiracies. That is why you see this so often. I believe it would have been a lot better publicity for Nascar had JPM won. After all, he'd be the only driver ever to win both the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400. He would have been historic for many reasons. Another win by Jimmie Johnson, on the other hand, generated little excitement at all.

What is curious to me in all those Montoya questions is why there is such a widespread perception that Montoya keeps destroying his cars? The guy finished every single points race this year, and the closest he came to DNFing was being 5 laps down in Talladega, where either his steering broke or Newman dumped him. I just don't get this Grand Canyon sized gap between perception and reality.

I am puzzled why he left F1 in the first place. F1 pays quite a bit more then NASCAR; there is overwhelming international notariaty; not to mention there are only 16 races in the schedule and the races are only about and hour and hald long. I would have stayed in F1 if I was racing there; despite the fact that Schumie dominated it big time. And if Schumie wasn't tearing it up that funny little dancing Hobbit Ferenando Alonzo was.
Schumie is gone now and F1 is one giant free for all; yet I strongly doubt JPM could compete against Alonso, Massa, Rikkonen, and now this new Kid Hamilton. However he probably would have faired better in the Schumie Free F1 versus his current frustrations in NASCAR.
Judging by the number of Drivers he has taken out this season I am sure there are many in the NASCAR Nation who want to pack this guys bags and send him on back to F1.
p.s. Real Truth....nice stats on JPM; but all that is minor league crap. It's like Harvick bragging about his 06 Busch series title. He was a terrible F1 Driver and Schumie on several occasions wanted to knocked his teeth out. He was hated in F1; he's now hated in NASCAR. His stats in the little leagues don't mean crap when he is racing with the Big Boys.

I respect Montoya for going outside his comfort zone and giving NASCAR a try. I think if he sticks it out for the long term he can be a legitmate contender. He just needs to learn patience and get more accustomed to stock cars. If he can make a sucess in nextel cup it would help NASCAR as well by making it seem more legitmate in the general race community.

I think maybe he should play on video games until he can control his mouth and his car. There is some moron acting like all nascar fans who don't like him are hicks and racists, and that guy is an idiot. If you can't watch a race and figure out why he is so disliked, then have your mommy or whoever takes care of you read this to you and explain the concept of class, clean driving, and humility.

Nope, I think the move was a good choice. I think he's got a lot of talent and once he starts making better decision's on the track (and stops wrecking cars) that he will be a contender to win some races.

Let me think for a second....YES. I honestly didn't think there was a driver I could dislike more than Jeff Gordon; Montoya proved that wrong.
