Romans 13:1
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

(I´m so happy that I´m atheist and I have not to follow this kind of absurd orders)

You have mistaken what God endorses for what he allows.
For that matter, try to understand that God actually opposes ALL human governments as they are all in oppositon to God's Kingdom.
Quick lesson, when Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree in the center of the garden ( the tree of the knowledge of good and bad), it was symbolic of them taking what did not belong to them. Namely, the right to decide for themselves what is good or bad. The tim ever since has been allowed by God so that humans could have a fair chance to try to prove their challenge to the Right of God to rule mankind, or whether they could rule themselves without God's intervention.
Sooooo, down through the ages, virtually every form of government and kingdom of man has been tried, and yet they have all failed to bring about the peace and security that most of us desire.
Having said that, yes, some of the governments of man have truly been hideous to their citizens, but this is not because God desired us to have self rule, it is because our anscestors Adam and Eve decided this for us.
Yes, God allows these governments, but no, he does not support them.
Sorry to have to correct you, but you are just so wrong.

What makes you think in the long run, that you don't have to follow this stuff ?? Do you really feel , that God does not support you and continue to Love you as He does all the others that you have mentioned ?? Sadam, was not a Christian. He was a Muslim. I am not gonna judge you for being an Atheist, because I don't know much about it. But I am gonna tell you one thing, that you will be judged by God the Father. The Holy Bible is the word of God. In Romans 13:1 It reads that there is NO power , but of God. That tells you that the only Power is of God. Any other earthly Power has no importance. So in other words, God is the Power and the Glory. We will all stand and answer to him , in the end. That also includes you and me. Hitler and Sadam , tried to use their power and was taken down. Gods Power was Greater. So yes, you will eventually submit to the Power of God.

Some people here just don't understand what it says there. It says that any kind of goverment established in earth has been aproved or maybe allowed if you wanna be a lil softer/sweeter by God.So whatever your goverment says, you have to follow their instructions.Just that,no exceptions,no clausules.

Anyway i am not saying than in any other part of the bible some passage doesnt contradict this one, sure it happens as with any commandement told by God on the bible. This is just what this passage says, and you cant deny it mentioning another passage in the bible saying the opossite,or even worse, deny it because of you own idea of how a God should behave or think or like.Another possibility is that maybe God 'forgot' to add something up in that right moment in the bible, who knows.Sorry about it boys.

Have Fun!

I guess one could argue that if the "authority" goes against the teachings of God, then it's not established by God and thus not truly an authority and does not have to be followed.

The logic in this passage is somewhat circular - no authority other than God but submit to the government because it was established by God (unless, of course, it wasn't established by God so then you wouldn't have to recognize it as an authority).

Pretty much, as with most things in the Bible, the "out" was written right into the rule itself so you can pretty much justify whatever it is you do.

I do not want this to be turned into a debate forum but the way I understand it is that Pual (writer of Romans) was talking to the Roman citizens and their authorities. The letter is published for everyone to read today but at the time the audience was the early Roman Christians.

Matthew 28:19 (twenty first Century King James version) 19Go ye for this reason and prepare all countries, baptizing them in the call of the father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, those verses supply all 3 touching on Jesus' baptism in 2 verses: Matthew 3:sixteen-17 (twenty first Century King James version) sixteen And Jesus, whilst He were baptized, went up straightway out of the water. And lo, the heavens have been opened unto Him, and He observed the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lights upon Him. 17 And lo, a voice got here from Heaven, asserting, "it truly is MY loved SON, IN WHOM i'm nicely delighted."

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

I don't know where you found this "scripture", but the King James Authorized version states something very different.

Its a big jump from an interpretation by the spiritual man to the interpretation by the physical being. Even Satan will answer to God, its inevitable, and Satan himself knows it.

Higher powers set by God demand certain morality and principals, things of honor that are righteous and good in the sight of God, not the leadership of corrupted, evil men who walk in the darkness of this world, who accomplish the goals set by "spiritual wickedness in high places".

Job 1:7
And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

Of course they were. And those who removed them have been paying the high price of doing so.
If Hitler had remained in power, the Nazis would have euthanised the entire area, leaving no pockets of violence and corruption like those which proliferate the region today.
He didn't care for Communism, either.
The price for removing Hitler from Eastern Europe has been a long and bitter 'cold war' which continues until today.
Bosnia would have had no problems at all under his iron hand.
Some people naturally require ruthless dictatorship, or there exists no possibility of peace in their land.

Sometimes God allows people to be in charge for a reason. He will be glorified in the evil and the good. Some times people beg for someone, and God allows them to have what they ask for, even if it is the wrong thing. Look at Saul. They begged for a king instead of leaning on God. He gave them what they wanted, and it was not the right king. They suffered because of what they prayed for and begged for.

You do follow the order, because you live under the ruler of your country. Countries that are godless, end up with a godless leader, whether you are an atheist or believer, it affects you. God allows what the people want. Because Hitler and Saddam were in power only proves that godlessness breeds godlessness. God also tells us that when His people humble themselves and pray that He will heal their land.
