I asked a Christian if he thought god created everything on earth. He said yes. I asked him who created god. He said no one created god. So I ask... Why then can you accept the fact that no one or thing created god, but can't except the fact that no one created life and the universe, etc. Can any one answer that?

asking people to accept facts when you're discussing god is like asking for bread at a hardware store. it's pointless. there are no facts when it comes to faith-based beliefs.

I believe people created god, and we give beliefs power because we believe in them and that to exist at all one must believe in that existance and everything exists, in our minds.

Yes I can and your friend should have been able to answer the question as well. It is quite basic actually.

Fact
We know everything with a beginning has a cause.
Fact
We know the universe had a beginning.
Conclusion
The universe had a cause

How do we know there is a creator.
-That is a long discussion that I realy don't have time to discuss now. Sorry, check out the case for the creator DVD it is very concise and helpful.

How do we know the God of the Bible is the one true God.
-Another complex discussion you can check out the case for Christ for that one.

But does God have a creator? No God doesn't have a creator. To ask a question like that you are measuring a being that not only exists outside of your realm of thought and possibility for understanding your are saying the creator is limited just like his creator. This is not possible.

The bible teaches God is eternal. Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." So he doesn't have a beginning there for he doesn't have a creator.

I realizing this doesn't fit the Humanist Straw Man argument that you might be working from but it is the truth.

You've hit upon the bane of the teleological argument. Christians posit that there has to be a god because the universe was too complex, but then they beg the question of whether there can be an *even more complex* god with no cause of its own (despite the earlier claim that it was the complexity and such that requires a creator).

The teleological argument is pretty dumb, really. Ultimately, if you're going to assume some sort of cause, you might as well assume as simple, non-divine cause with emergent properties.

In a way you could argue that lets say everything came from the big bang.... And that energy that started it was god.... it wasn't and body or anything its just what your definition of a god is...religious people just need to embody this...so it can be the same thing you just skip a step...if a god can create itself why can't any energy

It is just one part of the wonderful logic of the theist. They say that the big bang did not happen becuase something cannot come from nothing, but God has always been and will forever be. He doesn't need a creator. Therefore he came from nothing.

My brain is hurting...

No answer for that, It's their personal choice. When I was a Christian, a minister once told me that God created himself. Still can't wrap my mind around that reasoning.

Glad to see the upgrade: Creationism is now a theory !!

By definition, God has no beginning nor no end.

Ugh... that is why what we believe is called FAITH... Faith is a belief that is not based upon facts. God doesn't ask His followers to prove His existance, He simply asks us to have "faith."
