- so why do people submit to oppressive religions that cause wars when they could be much happier sleeping in on a Sunday or spending time doing things that really matter to improve their life, rather than praying for a better life and not doing anything about it?

You know, folks who don't believe in a god or believe there is no god always complain religious types push their beliefs. But here you are, pushing your beliefs on us.

Just because you find something oppressive, doesn't mean others don't enjoy it. The Church I used to belong to, before I moved, was a close group of people with simliar beliefs. We cared for our sick, visited our elderly, and lived and laughed together. We had a community that happened to be brought together by God. It is no different then a soccer team, or a poker night, or any other group, like Boy Scouts or the YMCA.

So, if doing good will and giving food to the homeless, and communing with other people doesn't improve my life, I don't know what will.

But, that's just me, man. I suggest you relax and do better things than try to pick fights on Yahoo answers.

Each person is entitled to their own beliefs. I choose to believe in god for so many reasons that I cannot list them all here. Try taking a look around you. Look at the sky, it is so different and beautiful every day .Look at your hands . No one else has your fingerprints, they are completely different than anyone else's. Each person has their own look, personality, and so on............... how do you think it is possible ?There is no other force strong enough to provide all that we bear. Look at all the miracles that surround us. I know there has been one in your life in some way or another. If you say no,wait and watch, you will see one happen.I dont go to church or claim to be a great christian person , but I definately know where I came from and I know that Jesus died on the cross for our salvation. I pray and I believe, and without that I dont think I could survive. TAKE TIME IN YOUR LIFE TO THINK ABOUT WHAT I SAID PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We believe in many things that we can’t see. (See Optical Illusions tract) Ask a skeptic if he has ever seen the wind. Has he seen history? Has he ever seen his brain? We see the effects of the wind, but the wind is invisible. We have records of history, but it is by "faith" that we believe certain historical events happened. Television waves are invisible, but an antenna and a receiver can detect their presence. The unregenerate man likewise has a "receiver." However, the receiver (his spirit) is dead because of sin (Ephesians 2:1). He needs to be plugged into the life of God; then he will come alive and be aware of the invisible spiritual realm.

yeppers...yes but believe in the wind is a logical thing whereas believing in the bible is not really logical...even though you cannot see your brain you can use it to see that the bible is all nonsensical (metaphorical and therefore not true).
