He probably has a lot of leave time saved.

My hubby for example has 65 days of leave he can take. He even took 30 days in 2006.

It's also possible that he's on terminal leave. Which means he's using his leave time before getting out - so technically he's on vacation - but he's not going back to the military to work.

Same reason some people didn't go to Viet Nam...OR don't go to Iraq. NOT EVERYONE GOES. And the Navy isn't directly involved in the ground war. Not all ships go to Iraq or the Arabian (aka Persian) Gulf.
What I wonder about that show is, are those women so pathetic that they have to go on TV to get a date?

It's not fair...I'm gonna hold my breath...
This is a practice in every war, bring some Military back home, so America can see who is fighting it. So we continue to see soldiers as people, not just statistics....

It's called Recruiting, and I doubt his Buddy's have any problem with him being a face for their cause, as they know good P.R. helps them...

not too much need for a Medical Dive Officer in the Litter box. besides, he used up all his leave, with the permission of his superiors and was NOT allowed to wear his uniform during the show's episodes,.

Oh yeah, and three days after finsihing filming.. he was back on station.

Because our military got brainwashed by George W to go to Iraq. Now that they're their instead of bringing them home which is what the majority of Americans want he decided that he's going to extend their time in Iraq. Our president is a joke the conflict was a joke yet the republicans brainwashed themselves into believing every single lie Bush spouted and now we're stuck in nowhere land in Iraq.

I would like to know the same dang thing! And one of the guys from this season's American Idol, Phil Stacy, (he's in the Navy) he didn't have to deploy because he was too busy performing crappy on t.v. All the contestants that got booted from the show will be in concert and he might be in it instead of deploying. I think it's shady.

War is to be fought by the poor - The masses die for thier Kings gain - haven't you got that by now ?

George W - did not get shot at now did he ?

Old men in arm chairs send young men to die usually for nothing and until the people wake up and say enough is enough they will continue to die for rich old men in armchairs -

Wake up - war is for the masses not the nobles
