Your are standing before two gates. One leads to heaven, the other leads to Hell, but you don't know what hides behind either door. There are two gatekeepers. You know one of them always tells the truth and the other always lies, but you don't know who is the honest one and who is the liar.

You can only ask one question to one of them in order to find the way to heaven. What is the question?

Heaven And Hell Door Riddle

I might just assume the lying guard is guarding Hell, because lying tends to be known as a sin. Therefore, i would hold five fingers up and ask each guard "how many fingers am i holding up?" Since the liar cannot tell the truth, he would say the wrong number, which would lead me to believe that the guard that answered incorrectly would be the one guarding Hell, giving me the door that leads to heaven.

If one guy lies and the other tells the truth, could you not just ask any standard question of fact? What colour is my hair? How many sides does a triangle have? What sound does a duck make?.. etc.. "What would the other guy say if I asked him which door leads to heaven?" is way more complicated than it has to be.

You ask them both 'which door leads to heaven?'. If the guard at heaven is honest, he will point to his door. If he's dishonest (he wouldn't be the guard to heaven then!), he'll point to hell. When you ask hell's guard, if he's honest, he'll point to heaven, and if he's dishonest, he'll point to hell. It's hard to explain but their responses would contradict. And you'd know where to go!

Well, ask the guard if the gate he is standing in front of is the doorway to heaven. If the honest guard is answering, then he will tell you yes or no. If it is yes, then true. If it is no,then it is the other door.If the liar guard is answering, then if he says yes, then the other door. If it is no, then it is his door.

Ask anyone of them, "what would the other guy say if I ask the way to heaven?" and take the opposite door of what he is going to say.
