I dreamt I was running with my sister on the road outside our house. There was a raven in a tree which made me nervous, so I took her hand. It croaked something like 'ebony' at us. I was frightened. We walked past the tree towards our house. I turned around briefly and the raven was swooping down after us, still croaking. I told my sister to run but lost her hand as I ran to the house. I never reached it. The last thing I remember hearing before I woke up was the word 'ebony!' The dream unsettled me. I thought the raven might be trying to tell me something. Can anyone tell me what?
Thanks.

Dreams are a manifestation of your subconscious. They unify the body, mind. It provides you with insight into ourselves and a means for self-exploration. In understanding your dreams, you will have a better understanding and discovery of your true self.

The meaning of your dream:

Being Chased:

The feeling you experience during your dream are actually associated with your conscience life, with your every day activity. Do keep in mind that "chase dreams" are very common.

Chase dreams often stem from feelings of anxiety in your walking life. The way we respond to anxiety and pressure in real life is typically manifested as a chase dream. Running is an instinctive response to physical threats in our environment. Often in these dream scenarios, you are being pursued by some attacker, who wants to hurt or possibly kill you. Chase dreams may represent your way of coping with fears, stress or various situations in your waking life. Instead of confronting the situation, you are running away and avoiding it.

Ask yourself who is the one chasing you and you may gain some understanding and insight on the source of your fears and pressure.

The pursuer or attacker who is chasing you in your dream may also represent a part of yourself. Your own feelings of anger, jealousy, fear, and possibly love, can assume the appearance of threatening figure. You may be projecting these feelings onto the unknown chaser. Next time you have a chase dream, turn around and confront your pursuer. Ask them why they are chasing you.

One may be consumed by their own anger, jealousy, love, or self-destructive behavior. For example, you may be drinking too much or exhibiting open hostility toward others around you. You may subconsciously be threatened by these actions which have been jeopardizing your relationships and/or career. Your dreams are a way of calling attention to these self-destructive actions.

A more direct analysis of chase dreams is the fear of being attacked. Such dreams are more common among women than men, who may feel physically vulnerable in the urban environment. These dreams are inspired by fears of violence and sexual assault in which we are so over-exposed from the media. The violence that the media portrays magnifies our fears and how at risk we all are.

Your dream suggest that you are feeling trapped in a current situation or relationship. Do you feel that you are being taken advantage of? You desperately want to get out of this situation, but you are afraid to stand up and confront it. As with the premise for many of the chase dreams, fear and anxiety are the main reasons why you are running away.

A Raven:

To see a raven in your dream, symbolizes betrayal, disharmony, misfortune, and even death.

The Word "Ebony":

To dream of ebony furniture or other articles of ebony, signifies distressing disputes, grievances and quarrels at home.

To dream of ebony nights, signifies despair and sadness.

Can't Reach Sister:

You are running with your sister, and you tray to protect her making her run to a safe place [or situation] represented by your home. She offers comfort and security. Being with her and grabbing her hand may give you a sense of being shielded from having to face the difficult feelings you are running from. However, you awaken before you reach her. Though she may be wonderful and supportive, she may not be necessarily the answer. Instead of running to her you should turn around and face your problems - face your "raven" (threatening situation or person).

Another perspective on why you may wake up before you reach your your sister may have a physiological basis. Our body has a instinctual, natural and involuntary way of responding to threats in the environment. The "fight or flight" comes into play here. This is the mechanism that awakens and quickly alerts us in response to possible threats in the environment. When you dream of being chased, your body may going through involuntary muscle contractions as you really believe that you are being chased and are running as fast as you can. This may cause your body to respond in such a way that it really thinks that it is in danger. So thus causing you to awaken before you can reach your boyfriend.

Conclusion:

You feel threatened in your walking life due to a threatening situation or person, or alternatively by the recent death of a loved one [represented by the raven , its' flight and croak].

You fear that this threat may affect a loved person or people, represented in your dream by your sister. Thus, in your attempt to protect your loved ones, you try to make your sister run to safe [your home]. This, represents your conscious effort of trying to make a compromising situation better, and avoiding negative consequences for your loved one.

It was a bit disturbing to read how great a threat you feel. Honestly, I think you are quit a brave person, because of your protective instinct towards your loved one. You are a very brave person.

Remember! Turn around (in your conscious life) confront your fear (you have already proved very brave); your dream might be very pleasant afterward. Than, come back and tell us your next dream.

I wish you all the best....

This is the meaning of your dream. The road represents the path of life you are taking. The raven represents someone you know who is "wicked" or "unclean" or "immoral", but they have a appearance of righteousness. The reason the raven keeps saying "ebony" is because it is a warning to staying away from this person. Ebony of course, is a spanish word for black, and black is associated with wickedness. But just as important, pray for your sister and stay close. Your losing her hand in the dream represents her being left behind. Okay, take care.

To add to what others are saying. The road you are running on has to do with your path in life and the door represents a entry into another path.

sounds like you are afraid of something in your life that you can't get away from. the problem is something fairly big and you think it will affect someone important in your life. OR the problem concerns others and you think they will get away from it and you won't.
