I converted to Catholicism a little over five years ago from Protestantism. I had been a Protestant for 50 years and a Protestant minister for 25 years. I am now a Catholic priest.

I converted because I realized that the Catholic Church was the Church spoke of in the Scriptures and that it was the Catholic church that had the fullness of faith and practice.

It is the Church that was founded by Christ and the disciples with certain promises by Jesus, most important of which is that the Church would be the enduring Church where the truth can be found for all times. It is the Church protected by those succeeding the disciples and contains the truth of Sacred Tradition.

In Christ

I was raised Catholic, then a few years ago I "converted" to christianity. My reason: Catholicism teaches from the same bible.. but in a christian church you can feel & see God move!! Christian services are not planned out.. like in a catholic mass where all the prayers & sayings are planned to a T. I want to be in a church where God has the freedom to move as he wants.. Faith is a constant walk with God.. how can we learn & hear what God has for us if its not God who is planning out the service? I hope this makes sense! This is what works for me. I wish everyone felt this way because if they came to a service where GOD is moving in that place, they would be so touched & changed! God is so Good=)

I converted to Catholicism in 1999. I had actually tried to prove it false, but the more I studied it, the more convinced I became that it was true. Catholicism is like a big jigsaw puzzle -- if you just look at a few pieces, it seems strange and weird, but the more pieces you examine and see how well they fit together, the more and more sense it makes, and the whole picture is simply breathtaking.

I know lots of recovering Catholics, but nobody's that actually gone the other direction.
