how do you let down a guy?

this is my BEST friend in the world. i loooooove him, just not like that. problem is that he thinks i like him too and is planning on like hooking up with me at a place that my crush will be at. how do i be with my crush and not leave him out


i need to let him down easy butttttt i cant just say it cuz i want him to still like me, just not expect me to date him.

Honestly and kindly. Though no matter how kind you say it some guys will take it as the ultimate insult and if that does happen remember that it's not your fault. You were just honest with him.

You'll have to tell it to him somehow, otherwise you're leading him on to thinking that you might want to date him. The longer you go like that, the harder it will be for him to hear what you have to say. You don't have any control over how is he going to take it, and whether or not he'll decide to be your friend after this. It's up to him. You'll have to do your part by being straightforward and kind.

Well, an old saying says you can't have it both ways. (IT SUCKS I KNOW!!) But I mean, think about it... it's not fair to him. If you honest to gosh do NOT want to date him, then it isn't fair to give him false hope to linger on.. you want him to move on and be happy since he has no hope with you. Tell him that you're friends and you love him like a brother, but that's all you'll ever be. I know, it hurts, but, you gotta do this.. not only for yourself, but him as well. Good luck!
