Thursday before the All-Star Challenge Junior did hold a press conference announcing he is leaving DEI. However there have been some underlying stories and whispers through the grapevine that it may be a rouse to shake Teresea Earnhardt into meeting his demands.
This weekend Junior did meet with several Team Owners. Following the press conference his Sister was reviewing offers from various teams. There are a ton of rumors nad speculation of where he may end up.
I know DEI did make a radical move this weekend and entered a joint engine project with RCR.
Junior did say he WILL NOT (get this through your heads Junior Nation) drive the #3 Car.
Hendricks has officially said they have no room for him but did extend and offer to supply engines should Jr. race for his own Jr. Inc. which is already in the Busch Series.
Joe Gibbs Racing has expressed an interest but will not welcome any alcoholic beverage as a sponsor. RCR has been quiet and got even more quiet when it entered the engine deal with DEI.
So that is a summary of what is going on. For the best information as well as the lastest and greatest; go to either :

p.s. Now Junior Nation; some of Ya'll ain't playing very nice. You even make fun of your fellow Jr. Fans. Ouch!

Gene L has a very good answer except that he forgot to mention that Ginn Racing (who has Mark Martin, David Ragan, Joe Nemechek and Sterlin Marlin) has shown an interest in Jr. from the very beginning and have stated that they "will actively pursue a deal with Dale Earnhardt Jr.". There is a very good possibility that he may sign a deal with them or Richard Childress. Some of the other owners have also shown an interest in him as well. About the only two who have made statements about not pursuing Jr has been Joe Gibbs Racing due to the sponsorship and Hendrick Motor Sports because they have a full house already.
Jr is leaving DEI because he and his stepmother couldn't agree on how to get the teams more competitive and better equipment. They both want the same thing but they both have different ways in which to accomplish that goal. Therefore, Jr felt better getting out on his own much like his father did when he became 32 (Jr's age now).

You must have been sleeping for the past 2 weeks. He had a news report LIVE and announced that he was going to quit at the end of this year. No one has any idea as to where he will end up at, not even him. He will no longer be a part of DEI. Step Mommy has it all and she is keeping it all. Dale Sr. has turned over in his grave at least once a day since Jr. quit. There is a moral to this event. If you want your kids to have what you got, have it all in writing before you leave the confines of this earth. She got his money, his # 3 logo rights and the whole ball of wax. Jr, well he got zilch.

Dale stated he wanted more control of the company as he felt his step mother was not moving the company his father built in the right directions, he also felt some of her decisions were costing him the chance at a championship, so he made the demand that either she surrender 51% of the company to him or he was taking his money making behind else where.
It's sad to say but she didn't negotiate with him and he anounced, with much sadness I would imagine, that he was leaving DEI and that there was no turning back for him.
So now he's a free agent looking for a champion team to drive for.
There's alot of speculation about him driving for Richard Childress (His Daddy's prev boss) who knows, we all just have to hang tight and wait to see what his next move is.

Yes he is. His step mom wanted control over the whole company and doesnt want to work for a living. Jr is saddened by having to do this but Theresa doesnt care. Budweiser will follow Jr and Martain Truex Jr wants to do the same.

Latest word is he and Teresa will iron things out for him to stay, they have Childress engines now so he'll be more competitive. The whole "leaving" press conference was good publicity for DEI and for Junior, nothing more. He'll soon announce a 3-year contract with DEI.

Welcome to a couple weeks ago! He announced he was leaving to go drive somewhere else as they couldn't reach a contract at DEI that would give him 51% of the company.
