A quote thanks to Jon C and Rumi. "Out beyond the understanding of good and bad, there is a field, will you meet me there"? ~ : )

The problem with arbitrating is that you have to be able to see both sides of the debate. But Jesus did say to the woman taken in adultery

John 8: 11
... Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

He was wise enough to see both sides... both the need for people to obey the law, and the need for mercy to those who break it, who may still be able to bring themselves into line with it.

I think it's good to arbitrate, but not to condemn... but I'm not sure if I yet have sufficient wisdom to be able to do it in a constuctive way.

From Wiktionary:
Arbitrate (Verb):
to arbitrate (transitive or intransitive)
1) to make a judgment (on a dispute) as an arbitrator or arbiter
2) to submit (a dispute) to such judgment

Not sure there's really a difference, except in the semantics.

We are to assess from the facts we have about our and others behaviors to see if they are just, heathful and in accord with Natural Law(Reason)or civil or revealed law. We cannot judge the heart and we do not know all the circumstances, but Jesus ,as God Incarnate and the Ultimate Judge, does

er, its more like, theres two sides to every argument, one listens and discusses, without apportioning blame to either party... my wife and I call our table switzerland..coz its neutral territory.. aroun d it we talk and discuss our problems... we do this for our friends, and we behave like swiss banks, we dont talk about it... never to third parties... or we would loose our credibility, and our friends...

condemnation whilst good for venting the spleen isnt very productive, in fact its the opposite... arbitration is a people skill... its all about compromises... or a bit of give and take... judge and be judged... or as i prefer, in a compromise everyone walks away happy...
