My puppy I had just got not to long ago has been eating Diamond dog food. I know Diamond isn't the greatest dog food, and neither is Purina! But my father said he can't afford to pay for a high quality dog food! And he said something about switching to Purina dog food and I told him I believe Diamond is better! But he keeps arguing with me and he said Purina has been around longer so he must think the longer they been around is the better they are! Well im the one who has done all the research on dog food and he hasn't! So I would to hear your opinion! Would you pick Diamond or Purina? Which do you believe is the best?

I wouldn't feed either. Check out a quality dog food.. Might seem like they cost more, but the dog eats a whole lot less. The ingredients are higher quality and the dog can get his nutrition from the food easier, more efficiently.. Lb for lb, they work out about the same. The thing about the cheap crappy foods, you end up spending more in the end, because you will paying your vet money to help you with chronic problems that eating crap food will cause...

Check out the Canidae.. Great food, not expensive and very healthy for them.

there is a whole lot wrong with Purina. It is full of grains, animal by-products and fillers, even their "natural" stuff is all-natural crap. The fact that it has been around for decades means nothing, other that people have been feeding their dogs crap for decades.
Nature has been aroun for eons longer that purina, and nature says no grains ever, almost all raw meat, and some veggies and fruit. Not everyone can do that though, so you have to get a kibble that is based on raw foods.
Diamond is so much better than purina, but it still isn't great.
Innova Evo pet foods are formulated to simulate a raw diet, or to be mixed in with raw foods. They are also VERY expensive, about 45 dollars for a 20 lb bag, and most pet stores don't carry it, so it has to be shipped to you. But, you feel less than half of what you would the other crap, and it has the most protein than any other dog food, which for a puppy is terrific.
So, you buy the expensive stuff(note, just because it costs more does not mean it is better, look on the lable),
Feed half the amount, it lasts twice as long, and the price difference balances itself out, plus, your dog will be much healthier because of it. And if you mix in raw meats and veggies it will last even longer. Remember that raw foods does not mean table scaps which are bad for dogs, but a carefully calculated diet of certain raw meats and raw(never cooked) bones, as well as veggies, still no grains.

Purina is not going to harm your dog but, Diamond is definitely a better product. If I only had a choice between Purina and Diamond I would chose Diamond.

Purina has been around for about 20 years. And nothing is wrong with Purina. I have been giving my cat Purina for a long time and nothing is wrong with it.

They both suck. There is such a small difference in the ingredient list that it doesn't matter which one you feed if these are the only 2 options you are open to. One is cheaper, the other is no more healthy for your dog. Got any other options?
