I think it will live past the extinction of man. I think we will be long gone before this planet dies, assuming we dont blow the crap out of it with nuclear war or something.

Cause then all that would be left are coachroaches and Cher. Ugh!

I think that people are easily frightened by the end of the world. One of the excuses is to throw "God" at it and claim that it's much better to think of God as deciding when the world should end. Regardless of faith, it's obvious that "God" does little to ease our suffering on this world, so let's look over the options here:

1. Some bizarre freak accident where a one in a million chance of an asteroid or meteor hitting our world and destroying it occurs.

2. PLAUSIBLE - Several countries go insane and just start firing their nuclear weapons. By several, I mean America.

3. Humanity simply dies out, thus ending our cycle, but the world lives on in this situation.

4. GONNA HAPPEN, PAL - Sun goes out, world ends. That's the absolute end, and it's a long ways away.

Unless we get hit by something in space, the planet will continue to exist until the sun collapses. Humans don't make a massive impact; that's a religiously imprinted belief where the world revolves around man and his Gods.

In short...don't worry about it. There's a black hole where some Mayans predicted it, so maybe we should tense up slightly around December, 2012...but otherwise, we should be fine. Religion keeps us in the dark on the end; it just says "A really, really, really, really long time from now -insert savior- will come and save the believers whilst slaughtering the non believers in horrible ways." Considering how poor that prediction is...I'd say that a space rock could hit you on the head before that happens, and if America tries to blow up the world, I'll personally run up and start trying to disarm the bombs. Otherwise...we've got a LOT more time than another century...or centuary...hm...different time measurement?

Yes, humans will live! But, there will be billions killed in wars and misery. Get rid of the pro-life and pro-choice ideas most people have. A better compassionate approach in life is needed by everyone.

that is a really good deep question... i don't know. I'd have to think about it for quite a while to give you a really good answer worthy of best answer. The way we are now it seems like ti could but then again it also seems we are rebounding from it all (i.e. creating hybrid cars, ethanol/ gasoline mixes, etc.)
