No, they will not assimilate...they haven't yet, nor will they.

America will continue to further look like Mexico more and more.

Typically, most immigrants do, but some form small colonies that resemble the Old Country (like the China Towns in so many cities). These colonies tend to be kept up by continued immigration, as the children born thier tend to Americanize. It's like a two-step immigration process.

In the past, hispanics hadn't really done that as much as some others. It may be, now that there are a number of Mexican-majority communities in the South West, that they begin to do so.

Just not assimilating outright - true colonization - hasn't happened in the USA.

Not yet, anyway.

They should make illegals -- as a condition for getting their temporary visa -- learn English. This will increase the liklihood they will assimilate. They should also do away with "bilingual education" or Spanish-only instruction. ENGLISH is the language of business and commerce in this country, and every other immigrant group has learned English, they should too! But American culture is infectious -- it is so appealing to the young people of every immigrant group -- because we have freedom, opportunity, individuality, creativity, diversity... So the younger generation will assimilate, they are assimilating already.

in the past, immigrants wanted to assimilate. these mexicans dont want to assimilate, they belive that they are entitled to the american south west. someone told them that the united states stole this land from mexico and they want it back and more. not all illegals think this way, but many do. its not just hispanics that refuse to assimilate. many people from many different cultures are coming here, refusing to assimilate. they plan to work here until they retire then take their money to the nation of their birth. used to, people came to this country to get away from tyrany, now they only come for monetary gain. when they've made their fortune, they'll have no more use for the US.

I knew a family of Mexican ancestry and they were just Americans with a Spanish last name. The kids didn't speak a word of Spanish. One of the boys had strawberry blond hair.

As to the "assimilation problem". It only SEEMS like a problem because there are constant waves of immigrants coming in from Mexico. In past generations the different nationalities came in waves. The Germans came starting in the mid 1840s through the 1870s. The Italians came in around the turn of the 19th -20th centuries. The Irish came over as a result of the Potato Famines of the middle to late 19th centuries. These immigrant populations have assimilated into Americans with German, Italian, and Irish surnames.

The same is happening with the Mexican immigrant populations, only we really don't notice the ones whose families have been here three or four generations, and the adults are college educated, have kids doing well in school and college. We don't notice them because they are like the Americans of Anglo-German-Irish-Italian ancestry.

Unfortunatly in the case of the Mexican immigrants far too many are coming her illegally and demanding special priviledges other immigrant populations never thought to demand of their host country. And sadly there are politicians pandering and feeding them bovine feces about needing special "help" and needing special "rights".

The people who come her ILLEGALLY need to get to the back of the line, let the US know who they are, pay a hefty fine for BREAKING THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES and go back to their countries of origin and fill out the necessary paperwork to come here LEGALLY.

That goes for Mexicans, Germans, Italians, Irish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc.....

They'll buy the clothes, housing, cars, electronics, and some music, etc... like others do. They'll set up businesses (most that launder money, and illegal drugs) that look much like those in Mexico. Their children will get a free education. But if you're expecting them to give up the Spanish language or assimilate completely... you are sadly mistaken.

they refuse to assimilate it is very clear that their goal is to conform america into mexico, they have stated that they are doing a silent invasion yet everyone continues to turn a blind eye about it

Phaliica I'd adapt your answer if i were you.
To say that any other ethnicity does not race eyebrows when one of their own breeds out of their own kind is WRONG.

Every single race ethnicity is egocentric and believe they are better than any other one. So check it,

O.k. but back 2 the question. We have assimilated, somewhat, but we do not adapt all the "customs", we more or less create a mix of both worlds. And we influence "American Culture" so much it just wrong 2 believe we have not assimilated
