search you local classified ads for obedience school in your area. TRUST ME... you will need one with your new chi... they must be trained from the start or you will be sorry. good luck.. they are a blast (once they get trained lol)

Don't give up!
1. Get better treats. The best treats are the ones that your DOG decides are the best, not what you decide. Next time you want to try training, offer a few different things : fresh diced chicken, ham (not much - it's very salty), turkey, diced cheese, liver, and if you're brave, liverwurst. I make French toast treats for my dog (without the sugar) and cut those up.
2. Work in a 'boring' place. A room full of toys and other people and etc makes it very hard for your dog to pay attention to you.
3. Work with a hungry dog. You will find that he will be amazingly focused. Skip a meal and then try training, or train before dinnertime.
4. Keep your sessions short. Count out only 10 treats for your next session. When the treats are gone, you're all done!
5. Try to not talk to the dog. Dogs don't speak English and it's very confusing to them to hear words like "sit!!!" and "down! down! down!!!" over and over - they don't know what this means, and you won't be able to get much done. Instead, try waiting for the dog to sit or down. When they do, say "Yes!" and treat.

Good luck!

First you need to learn about dog behavior. The best way is to enroll yourself and the dog in a good obedience program. This will teach you all whys of the questions you are asking. Then it will teach you how to teach your dog.

Check out www.dogpro.org and/or www.apdt.com for a trainer near you and start taking him to classes. If there are no trainers near you, check out the closest Petsmart.
