Any exercises and eating plans to help? I know that veggies are important but she is a very picky eater. She loves fruits but it is a fight with the vegetables. Help, I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any thoughts on slim fast for kids? Please no rude comments. This is serious.

Exercise - try to find types of exercise you can participate in with your kid(s) - walks, bike rides, playing catch, anything to move...I find it makes it easier to get the kids moving if they are doing it with me.

If your daughter likes fruits, then let her eat them - I never really tried to force mine to eat veggies...now my daughter who is 11 really likes most veggies - if you push something on her, it will probably just do the opposite. I would always make a veggie, and if she wanted to try it then fine, if not, that ok because I was eating them anyway.

I don't think kids need "diets", just lifestyle changes - fruits are a great start - I also buy whole grain breads and try to buy non-sugar-added drinks for them...100% fruit juice and such. I always try to make the better choice, it might not be the best, just better - like popcorn for a snack instead of ice cream. I have found it is more important to teach them proper eating and exercise habits than going on a particular diet - that way they will have those habits for life (hopefully :-) ). Kids will generally follow the lifestyles of their parents, so generally leading by example works! This is just coming from a parent, I am not a nutritionist or anything like that....hope this helps.

First get here involved in a sport that requires aerobic exercise...Soccer, basketball, swimming etc. Though before embarking on any weight loss venture with a child I would seek the advice of a pediatrician. I would recommend weight watchers as it is more a guide on how to eat rather than a full fledged diet. I definitely am NOT trying to be rude... I find most children with weight problems parents have weight problems. When you go to the grocery store how much of your basket is filled with snacks, junk-food and high calorie drinks??? Taking a look at your cart may help. If this is not the case see above:)

try a high protein diet - like all diets, you should check witha doctor before starting any diet or exercise regimine. Wal-Mart has EAS brand protein shakes that taste great, also, high protein snack bars. have her eat a bar in midmorning, a high protein lunch - tuna salad, grilled chicken, lean meat, etc - a protein shake in the afternoon and a healthy dinner. If she like chips, try the baked Lays, my son loves them. Teach her to read the back of a product's nutritional value. My son is 10, has a slight weight issue, and teaching him the value of the nutritional label has helped a lot. He has a concept of nutrional value, even if it is just that "a serving of these chips has 43% of my daily fat, and these chips only have 13%", etc. Good luck! Keep her eating the fruits, but watch the sugar content in the fruits she is eating. Some of them are so high in natural sugars that it will take her body so long to burn all of the sugars, that it will never get a chance to burn off any fat.......

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Get her in a sport now! that way she will like to exercise. she doesn't need to go on a diet she just needs to become active. remember she is only eating what you give her. so no sodas! No fast food! you are the mom so if she asks for these items just tell her no (easier said then done but it needs to happen). No Cookies! no junk! there are those healthy drinks for kids like ensure for kids and it's by pedisure. I forget what they are called but it's made by pedisure.
