It doesn't help as much as people think. But it definitely shows up for that day's profits. True, everyone will just buy another day, but it doesn't up those days' profits because they are dispursed throughout the rest of the week/pay period. But by everyone not having bought gas May 15, it definitely makes them think. In my area, gas is $3.50. I found gas at ONE gas station that is right off of Highway 80 in Illinois being $3.35. So I get gas $.15 cheaper per gallon than most people because I am usually out in the direction.

not buying gas for one day doesn't help, but buying gas as least as possibly does. If possibly, carpool, ride a bike, or take public transportation. It may not make gas prices stop rising, but it will put money back into YOUR pocket becuase then you don't have to fill up as frequent.
i think people should start riding bikes more, becuase they just run on human power, not gasoline or coal, plus you get a good workout, and it can be enjoyable.
i try to ride my bike as much as possible, to school, to the store, to my friends house; and its not like i live close to any of those places either, it takes me a good 15 minutes to a half hour to get to my destination, but im also saving myself a few bucks every time i make that trip rather than burning my gas in my tank.

Not really. This is why I propose everyone should stay home/local all of Memorial Day Weekend. Now you won't be putting EXTRA money into oil co's pockets because you won't be doing EXTRA travel for the holiday weekend and dumping gas into the boats, RV's jet-skis etc.. Oil co's make hundreds of BILLION$ every year, and do nothing to reinvest it to save you any money, why don't you stick it to them a little this year? And while you're at, it start researching what you can do to get E100 ethanol and biodiesel into use in your community, or at least for yourself. Alternatives such as those are the only way to really X-out oil all together, and we need to do it ASAP! Spread the word.

absolutely not. If you want to save on gas do more walking or get a bicycle..or a small scooter if you don't have to commute too far. Not buying gas for one day just makes the big guy sit back and laugh. You're gonna get the gas regardless...you'll either get it before or after "the day". I think that is so stupid for someone to suggest that cause it just won't work. we need to consreve is what we need to do. Most of us do our business in the neighborhood where we live...so take a walk...it will not only save fuel but it will be good for you.

No it just keeps the anarchy at bay for another day . If we were living in a parliamentary system the Bush government would have fallen already.
The great conservative paradox is that those who hate socialism the most often enact policies that help make it an attractive option.

The oil companys know you need gas, so no one buys it for one day, the day you bought it, it was $2 79.9 per gallon . Now you need gas again so now your going to pay $2.99.9 per gallon. Who do you think will win, everytime no one buys it they raise the price. The only way to beat them at their game is, every one that drives, does'nt .buy gas for a week. and do this over and over. Everyone in America sending the oil companys the message, we wont stand for the high prices.

No it didn't help, as a matter of fact gas prices are still climbing. People should quit buying gas at Chevron, Texaco, Shell, and other large gas companies and go to Albertsons, Maverick, etc.

Not as much as we'd like to think. It DOES send a message, but gasoline is like any other necessity (or addiction however you want to view it), you WILL EVENTUALLY buy it again until it is no longer needed (or there is an intervention).
