because non Christians specially atheists (because they get it from other religions too) are treated like 2nd class citizens and when people like Bush Senior make comments like no atheist should be allowed in this country and people like Jerry Farewell guy are to run free (well now dead)..And 7 states in the USA don't let Atheists hold government offices and they have to say "under God" even though they don't believe in one.. and read "In God we trust" on $ bills... Why else? because Religious government policies effect them a lot... USA was not made to be a Christian country.. Most founding fathers wanted a separation of Church and religion yet today we are considered to be a Christian country.. Why else? because now some Religious people want ID to be taught in schools when it is not even a science and its not provable or measurable....THATS WHY!!!

Because it's forced onto us constantly. In the UK we have religious figures making decisions regarding laws, we also have RE at school (what does this have to do with education?). Because religious people are determined to carry on with the stupidity, because religious people think it is OK to discriminate against a particular group or to treat women badly or to take civil liberties away from people. Because the archbishop of somewhere has declared that atheist are evil!
Keep religion in the churches and leave everyone else alone!

Obviously because the impact of religion is so often forced upon us.
If believers were capable of minding their own business, you'd hardly see any atheists here. But the believers' main reason for coming here seems to be to lie about atheists (just check out Samantha's answer below), and in real life the believers cause all sorts of real harm (for example, they bear quite a bit of the blame for the fact that George Bush is the U.S. President).

i hear ppl say that they are curious... only thing i can get from that is, atheist really really need our saviour b/c with this obsession with something that doesn't interest them makes me extremely nervous b/c "crack" is a horrible do and i would hate to see them explore crack out of curiosity. Or anything else that is hard on us humans. Who else is gonna protect them w/ such an adventurous mindset? So maybe it's not such a bad idea that they stick around being nosey since were not talking about someone that will hurt them. p.s you stole my question

why does this question lead me to believe the reverse, why do freaks keep asking the what ifs, sound so pompous and so confident even when licked you refuse to give a reasonable answer or just damn well concede when you are approaching the mark that's pointing towards "you're too dam stupid to admit you aren't correct".

That's a good question
I'm a big atheist, and RE is one of my favourite subjects at school, and I get A's and B's in it.
I really don't know why, it's really intruiging though.
Maybe because the more we know, the more we can argue in our defence?
Hmm.

think of it as a secret club that we don't care about joining. just because we aren't a part of it doesn't mean we aren't curious about what goes on inside the clubhouse, even if we don't believe in it. it's nice to check in every once in awhile and see how things are going in the other neck of the woods (considering how large the club is in comparison to us athiests)

Because the religious make damned sure we can't get away from it by their behavior. Should we just sit back and take our rights being taken away then?
