If you are a JW, please answer these questions...
1. Do you believe Jesus is God?
2. Salvation- is this from Christ and once you are saved, are you saved forever?
3. Have you read any of the gospels/letters from beginning to end?

I had quite an interesting conversation concerning those three topics and I would like to see what other JWs have to say.

I disagree with Jehoviah's Witnesses.

I'm a Christian and my faith in Christ does not agree with the tenets of JW.

It bothered me because those men were saying things that were alluding that Christians and JWs believed the same thing and I knew otherwise and questioned them further and then they started backtracking and saying different things.

They left believing they were right and I shut my door believing I was right.

Thank you for answering the questions.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians. The measure of truth for any self-described "Christian" should be the bible, rather than so-called "tenets" or "traditions".

(John 17:17) Your word is truth

(Matthew 15:6-9) It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.

(2 Timothy 4:3-4) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth

1. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Jesus Christ (the Son) is a distinct person from Jehovah God (the Father).

(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God

2.a.Jesus is the appointed Savior of mankind.

(1 John 4:14) The Father has sent forth his Son as Savior of the world

2.b. A Christian is only "saved" at the conclusion of a faithful life (caps added to citations below).

(Matthew 24:13) But he that has endured TO THE END is the one that will be saved.

(Philippians 2:12) Keep WORKING OUT your own salvation with fear and trembling

(Hebrews 5:9) [Jesus] became responsible for everlasting salvation to all those OBEYING him

3. Many or most Jehovah's Witnesses have read the entire bible (including the Gospels and Epistles) from beginning to end. Their congregations encourage individuals to read the bible daily.

(Joshua 1:8) This book of the law should not depart from your mouth, and you must in an undertone read in it day and night, in order that you may take care to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way successful and then you will act wisely.

In answer to your queries, No, yes/no, and Yes.

No, I recognize Christ as the son of God.

Yes Christians gain salvation, Through, Christ, as he is the intermediary between us and God.

Yes I have read the gospels/letters from Beginning to End. I especially enjoy reading Matthew, Mark, Luke and John because, like a roshomon play, they show us the same events being told through 4 different writers.

1. No I do not believe that Jesus is the Almighty God. Colossians 1:15 says: "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation." Also, Matthew 26:39 says: “Going a little farther he [Jesus Christ] fell on his face and prayed, ‘My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.’”

If the Father and the Son were not distinct individuals, such a prayer would have been meaningless. Jesus would have been praying to himself, and his will would of necessity have been the Father’s will.

2. Our eternal salvation is completely from Jesus Christ's sacrafice for our sins. There is no way we can "earn" salvation. However, there are ways we can prove our appreciation for the sacrafices both Jesus and God made for us. It is because of these demonstrations of love, loyalty, and appreciation for God that he will approve of us.

3. I have read the entire Bible from beginning to end, not only the New World Translation, but also the King James' Version.

Since the JW's refuse to answer you I will help.

1.Christ is not equal to God because He is a creature.
2.Christ was first of God's creations
3.Christ was raised from the dead as an immortal spirit person
4.Christ's presence is in spirit

Their believe is a modern version of Arianism with a little Gnosticism thrown in to mention just a few of their heresies.

Dear sep:

No. Jesus is not God, but he is God's son. John 17:3, Revised Standard Version: “Jesus prayed to his Father: This is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God [“who alone art truly God,” New English B.], and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.” (Notice that Jesus referred not to himself but to his Father in heaven as “the only true God.”)

John 20:17, Revised Standard Version: “Jesus said to her (Mary Magdalene), ‘Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ” (So to the resurrected Jesus, the Father was God, just as the Father was God to Mary Magdalene. Interestingly, not once in Scripture do we find the Father addressing the Son as “my God.”) Hence, the phrase “Son of God” refers to Jesus as a separate created being, not as part of a Trinity. As the Son of God, he could not be God himself, for John 1:18 says: “No one has ever seen God.”—Revised Standard Version, Catholic edition.

2, Yes, our salvation comes through Jesus. However, the Bible shows that the belief of 'once saved, saved forever' is incorrect. Matthew 24:13: Revised Standard Version: “He who endures to the end will be saved.” (So a person’s final salvation is not determined at the moment that he begins to put faith in Jesus.)

Phil. 2:12, Revised Standard Version: “As you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” (This was addressed to “the saints,” or holy ones, at Philippi, as stated in Philippians 1:1. Paul urged them not to be overly confident but to realize that their final salvation was not yet assured.)

Heb. 10:26, 27, Revised Standard Version: “If we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire which will consume the adversaries.” (Thus the Bible does not go along with the idea that no matter what sins a person may commit after he is “saved” he will not lose his salvation. It encourages faithfulness. See also Hebrews 6:4-6, where it is shown that even a person anointed with holy spirit can lose his hope of salvation.)
