Catholics are Christians.
Anyone who tells you otherwise does not know anything about Catholicism and obviously never was a Catholic.
Some main differences:
Apostolic Authority
Confession
The importance of Mary in Jesus/God's divine plan
Papal authority as handed down by Jesus to Peter
Scripture and Tradition, i.e. Catholics do what the early Christians did, The Mass
Transubstantiation vs Consubstantiation (Communion is literally the the body and blood of Christ as he tells us in John 6 and at the Last Supper)

I've found three major differences: the power of the Pope, the idea that a Saint or other figure already in heaven can intercede on your behalf and the pomp and circumstance of it all. As a member of a Protestant religion who has been going to more Catholic services, I can say that the whole idea of statues and saying Hail Marys etc. bothers me, but the basic tenets of the religions remain the same: Jesus died that we might live. Pretty basic and simple.

Because catholics are not Christians. The catholic religion does not teach salvation through Jesus Christ, they teach idolatry and necromancy aka: praying to Mary and other dead saints. They bow and pray to statues and use a rosary with repetitious prayers. I know this to be true because I use to be a catholic and renounced the catholic religion due to the false teachings. I am now a born again Bible believing Christian. Take a look at these links. They tell all:
