It can be a single sheet of paper, a folded sheet of paper, a booklet style, whatever, for the guests to follow along and to take home. It has a nice cover to list your names, the date, and the location. The program generally lists the order of the ceremony and the bridal party. You can also put a thank you note to your guests and/or parents, the songs in the wedding, your new address. We wrote our own vows, and I loved them so much I put them in the program. If you don't have anything in particular you want to list, you can just put the bridal party and the order of the ceremony. For a basic program you can get pre-printed folder-style paper to print on, or you could just buy some nice paper and print it. If you get really into it, you can do a booklet stapled or tied with ribbon, with a different paper for the cover.

It's an option. It's an item you would give to guests as they enter the church for the ceremony. It can have the order of the service, a listing of the bridal party, a special poem or some words on marriage, and a thank you from the couple for attending the ceremony. Usually, it's the size of one regular sheet of paper, folded. You can buy paper that has the front already printed with a picture, design, etc. That's what I did, then we just photocopied the other information on.

It's a piece of paper (sometimes several pieces of paper) that states
1) The order of events i.e. candle lighting, songs, vows, etc
It might state:
Poem Reading by Jane Doe, the Bride's Sister
Hymn 41
Vow Recital performed by Rev. Doe
Poem Reading by Mike Doe, the Groom's Cousin
2) Any special events that have significance for the couple
i.e. are you lighting candles for deceased parents? Signing a hymn for a special reason b/c it reminds you of your confirmation?
3) Names of ushers, the rest of the Bridal Party, parents,
It's a good place to explain any customs or traditions that might be somewhat different from the "normal" wedding. My Jewish friends have explained what different aspects of the ceremony meant; an Asian friend explained why the groomsmen wore what they did, etc.
Ask your officiant, wedding planner, for advice or to see samples.

When I attend a wedding I always like it when there's a wedding program, especially one that indicates the order of procession for the wedding party. that way i know the third woman down the aisle is the bride's cousin, jane smith, even though i've never met her. they're also helpful if there's some music during the ceremony that's especially pretty. i can just look and see "Handel's Water Music." plus, they're great mementoes for your guests. if you can afford it, by all means get one. they don't have to be fancy. you can just run something off at kinko's.

It's handed out at the ceremony and can include:
- names and relationship of bridal party members
- schedule for the ceremony
- schedule for remainder of the event
- special songs, poems, etc
- explianation of special parts of the wedding that might not make sense to everyone (religious or cultural traditions, etc)

Its basically like a program. It tells people what will go on, what songs will be played. My husband and I made our own on our computer. We laminated one for ourselves and one for the people in the wedding party as a souvenier.

its basically a hand out at the ceremony that lists who will give the readings, who is in the bridal party, perhaps what music is played, etc.
