A religion is a belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe. A belief is what one thinks is true, what one holds is more probable than not. Religion is a belief system, but not all belief systems are religions.

If a person is religious they usually believe in their religion.

If one is a true alchemist they usually believe it is possible to make gold - for decades they have believed this to be possible and for decades they keep believing it.

Religion is a following of a group of people that believe a particular group of teaching.

Belief is when an individual believes something to be true.

You may believe that some people believe in religion but you may reject religion yourself - that doesn't make it any less believable to someone who does not reject it.

What is the difference between the Universe and Unlimited?

Religion is adherance to rules or guidlines set up by an organization - a "religion".

Belief is what you have inside of you - it may result in doing alot of the things that people following "religion" do also, but initiated internally rather than externally.

I absolutely believe they are two different things..
I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and His teachings...
but i reject man made religion and traditions, which are set up to control people..it's misleading, and Jesus spoke against religion because He came to set us free, not bind us up with man's rules...this is something I'm very passionate about..and this is why the Bible is so misunderstood. Being bound up in religion is the reason so many people don't want anything to do with church, we show people church when it's Jesus we should be showing them..religion is the cause of many hurts, that's not the way it's meant to be..
rant over...and be blessed..

It is good you reject religion. So do I. Religion is man's attempt to reach up to God through his own efforts. Believing in something is like the analogy of a chair. For example: I believe that if I sit in a specific chair, it will not collapse. Faith is actually sitting in that chair. So I can belieive in God and believe in Jesus Christ, (demons believe in God, too) but putting faith in what He did for me on the cross and raising Himself from the dead is totally different. Hope that helps.

Beliefs make attittude. To make good atitudes we need good or true beliefs to be enforced by certain methods. Religions are founded by lovers of humanity for this pupose. Later it was mis interpreted for certain vested interests. So needs to develop a belief system discarding the bad aspects of our own religion ( to the religion we are born) and accepting all the good aspects of all other religions. This is Gandhism. i think it is the best.

They are completely different. Belief has many uses as a word, religion has only one.
