Neeva,
There is a mountain of evidence in many many different forms. You just refuse to open your eyes and look at it.
Even if radiometric dating was off by 50% (ITS NOT) the earth would still be 2.25BILLION years old.

There is no area of science that conflicts with Christianity.
The conflict is not between God and science. Rather, it is between arrogant theologians who think they know everything and big headed scientists who are sure that THEY know everything. Heh, neither group has even scratched the surface yet...
There is no conflict at all between God and science. There are facts that have not been discovered yet, and probably never will be. There are parts of the Bible that have been sadly twisted and misused for reasons I can't even begin to understand.
Science is forever making new discoveries. Today's theory (and please, don't explain to me again what a theory is) may not be the final word, new facts are being discovered daily.
God, on the other hand is immutable.
Science deals with learning about our world by physical means. God is a spirit and must be worshipped in spirit and in truth.
True, there are damn fools on both sides of the issue that seem to think their own ideas are the end all and be all, and think that anyone who doesn't think just as they do is "stupid" or "uneducated"...or *gasp* going to hell (which is a fallacy, by the way)...
Maybe if we could convince those egomaniacs on both sides to quit butting heads, it might be a tad less confusing.
Ahh, well, God bless you, anyhow, even if you don't believe in Him!
;-D

Actually, you are really wrong. You claim that modern science defies the Bible. You should probably research the topic before posting a question like this. There are hundreds of examples of science that supports the Bible. Also, most Christians believe in Evolution. It's Darwinism they do not believe in. There is litte doubt that humans have grown taller since the middle ages with the increase in nourishment (that is evolution). They just do not believe in much of what Darwin claims (we came from primate ancestors...).
While I really can not tell you the history of the world, you should read The Case for a Creator Student Edition by Lee Strobel. It was written my a former athiest who set out to prove the existance of a god false. Read it, it easy and told in an interesting way. THen you can argue with me.

That's all speculation that's not really true. Radiometric dating isn't that reliable, and that's starting to become more known. And yeah, most of astronomy points toward an old existence, but it's very possible that their math is wrong. If you go to NASA's page, and read about new discoveries, it always talks about how "It's not as we predicted" or "the results were different than our math showed what it would be." It's all a guess, at best. In DNA and genetic engineering, well..with genetic engineering, assuming you're talking about our ability to replicate genes and stuff, that doesn't prove anything, that's saying a creator created something. Nothing spectacular in that. With DNA as well, there isn't enough known for scientists to accurately say anything.

The Bible says the world was created in 4004 B.C., as a mature creation (that's a creation with the appearance of age). People throw around a so-called age of the mankind like it's fact, like they were here observing things. Sorry folks this is not observable science, but calculated science - thus your answers will be no more accurate as the assumptions that are used (e.g. rate of radioactive decay).
Recently in the news, there was a report of a Tyrannosaurus rex bone found with soft tissue (still-elastic blood vessel). The story mentions that the paleontologists are very surprised that this soft tissue was found at all. They claim that paleontologists of the past never bothered to look for any residue of soft tissue before, because they ASSUMED that it would have degraded long ago (Can you believe it? Scientists actually admit making assumptions) .

Goodness sake, girl, where have you been the last few centuries!
Yes, answer the literalist Christians, the FEW who still believe the Bible is literally true (kind of like the huge majority of Islam who thinks the same of their holy books, silly as that may seem to you or me).
But to lump all Christians into a tiny box occupied by a minority of Christians is just silly.
Christianity has been through all sorts of transformations and most of them have no problem with science or the discoveries that point to mistakes in reasoning of thousand-year-old ancestors.
It's no big deal to them.
Or didn't you know that Christianity has evolved as well? You're arguments put YOU in the past, not them!
Oh, I know, they still have a few. Feel free to answer them, but your conception of Christianity is seriously limited and dated.
Do a little research.
Oh, me? I'm not religious at all. Just tired of such bigotry.
Change one thing, and you avoid it: "Would literalist Christians like it... ." and you've hit the mark.
Your post puts squarely in the same camp with Christians who find fault with all "Atheists" for things only some Atheists believe.

I am a christian. I would NOT like it if all areas of science that conflict with TRADITIONAL Christian beliefs were abolished. I love science. I study it diligently. I am also Christian. I completely believe in Evolution, Astronomy, physics, etc...and that the world is billions of years old.
God uses things like evolution to create life and physics to create planets and stars. The more we learn of science, the more we learn of God and his ways.

Scientists are doing the best they can to understand God's Creation....let them have their fun. It in no way impacts the truth. If human minds were truly capable of understanding how Creation works (for example) then God would have included a lot more detail. Sadly, humans needed the Creation for Dummies version, and now that we are ready to hear more He's done talking. Ironic, eh?

Dear God, no. I've read stories about the Dark Ages. I have no desire to go back there.
Just as we mature as individuals and we mature in our relationship with God, we mature as a race. God didn't give us all the information about everything right from the start. He gives it us over time as we're ready to understand it. Science is just giving us a better view of how God created everything then just that "he did it".

Funny. Well over 6000 years. That is essentially what we have been saying all along.
BTW, we would not like what you suggest. However, I would be happier if they would at least stop claiming things to be fact when in actuality they are unable to prove them. After all, it is the same they ask of us.
