some people are just gullible.

Because there are too many variations in the Bible. There's has been a lot of difference of opinion because through out history the bible has undergone changes just so that those who changed it can mend it into their own lifestyle.. which i think is trying to Alter what God said originally....
so how can you rely on the Bible anymore?
I thought Only God is the author of a holy book, but why do i keep seeing names like Luke? King James? Paul? not to mention it was written 400 years after Jesus's departure. I'm only wondering out of genuine curiosity. can anyone explain?

For the same reason that if you get a group of 20 people together and have them watch a basketball game, telling them to pay attention to the guy in the orange shirt, none of them will notice the man dressed in a gorilla suit that pranced across the court. It's called Scotoma. The mind believes what it wants to believe. If you go in with the belief that its all crap, that's exactly what you will come away with. That is why truth is so subjective.

Because merely reading the Bible and trying to interpret it personally doesn't work! Protestants have been proving this continuously for 500 years. That's why there are thousands of unauthorized, conflicting manmade denominations, simply because personal interpretation, which is the foundation of Protestantism, isn't God's will and doesn't work!
God gave the Bible to the Church He personally founded, and with it, full responsibility for interpreting and teaching it. When manmade churches "borrowed" the Bible 1,200 years later, and decided that they would interpret it for themselves, they entered into a predictable downward spiral of fragmentation and doctrinal chaos, in direct opposition to the stated will of God, "that they all may be ONE".

You can't really understand why if you haven't accepted the Holy Spirit into you heart. Only then can understanding come. It's like being in grammar school and asking a University math major to explain how to do University math. Why ask? You're not going to understand anyway.

Like it says two shall be in the field and one shall be called the bible is different for everyone that reads it one will call it fiction and deny it's having any real value - While the next will receive a calling and treasure it as jewel & treasure of unlimited value. Too each their own - AMEN.

You see it is spiritually discerned and only the Author can help you to understand. I had the same problem before I was born again. The Holy Spirit is the difference.

Lack of knowledge for one.
Actually, that's the main problem.
It's a wonderful and life saving book to read, but few can read it without prior and on going learning, and understand it.
I knew one man that did, and he was in his 90's back when i met him in the 1970's.

sketch,
It does you little good to read the Bible if you are not saved. You will find much of it foolishness.
You need to get things in the right order. Try the test below to see what I mean:

The man without the Spirit cannot accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, they are foolishness to him and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

people bend books to fit thier doctrines
even when the doctrines are supposedly based on bible, they skip around the ones that conflict thier beliefs and claim the ones that do
and say whole thing is wright and blessed by god, failing to see plainly it was edited and modified countless times (sloppily at that) by monks and editors
