I looked up growing pains and it said that they were pains of the limbs, usually the legs, that happen during the evening or even at night to 3-5 and 8-12 year olds.

I am twelve years old. I have had growing pains in my foot over the past few years, and wear a size women's eleven. The other night I woke up at 3 in the morning with severe pain in my lower ribs. I found that streching helped, like the site said would help growing pains. It took about twenty minutes before I could get back to sleep.

Is this a rare case of growing pains, or something else?

for billie77, i drink lots of milk, and i mean LOTS. I'll drink half a gallon a day sometimes, so i don't think i'm lacking calcium. I'm not sure about magnasium, though.

Growing pains can be different in different people. If you are pretty much average height, and generally healthy, then the growing pains you are experiencing are uncomfortable, but not really too unusual.

However, if you are very tall, you might have a genetic growth thing, that makes you grow fast or more than most people in your family. If you think you are taller than most people in your family (except perhaps for one parent, who you could have inherited the tallness from) then it would be worth asking your doctor about it.

Here's an odd test: wrap your thumb and pinkie around your wrist. See if you can get them to touch. Most people cannot touch their pinkie to their thumb, around even the thinnest part of the wrist. However, if you can overlap your thumb and pinkie so that the tip of your thumb goes past the whole nail on the pinkie, then you might have a genetic growth thing going, and you should ask your doctor about it.

There is no medicine for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Excessive cold and Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy in the body are their causes.
Acupuncture is the best treatment.
Yog will also solve your problem.
You are consuming excessive milk, minimise it to such a level that you should feel hunger after 3-4 hrs. Consume some citrus fruits with or before and after milk.
Don't eat or drink milk without hunger. Consume dates in that place.

this could be growing pains and a lack of certain minerals. I recommend you start taking a calcium and magnesium capsule twice daily. This is going to help stop the pain. Also drink pure water mixed with mineral water 50/50. Drink at least ten glasses a day. This is going to hydrate your body with minerals.

if you don't feel better after a few weeks of this treatment talk with your medical doctor.
