Global warming has been occurring for 18,000 years, in the last 250 years it's been occurring faster than has ever before been known.

It was first surmised in 1811 and has been scientific fact since 1896, scientists have been warming about it since the 1950's, outside the US it's been a major worldwisde issue since the 1980's - hardly the latest trend.

And as 'trends' go it's not doing bad - 92% of the world's population consider it a serious issue, over 98% of scientists agree, every government in the world agrees with it, the CEO's of the world's leading 1000 organisations unanimously declared it the most serious threat facing humanity and even every major oil company in the world is facing up to it.

The trend is the number of skeptics is rapidly declining and they can no longer count on the support of any government, oil company or major business.

I believe that the latest trend whore issue is celebrities acting like they are doing something amazing for the environment by driving a Prius or other hybrid "environmentally friendly" vehicle. More often than not, these are people whom have never done anything for the environment unless it is a publicity stunt.
For the general environmentally conscious public, global warming does not replace endangered species, it has just risen to the top of the list in an importance that, while not trumping the endangered species problem, would be better to take care of first because if we can take care of the environment, we can take care of the species in the environment. If we can protect habitats like the rainforests and the oceans from the effects of global warming, we can better protect the species living in those habitats.

Global warming and endangered species are both HUGE issues. If the Earth becomes too hot due to human stupidity, everything on the planet, including the mighty human, is in danger. Likewise, if species go extinct the remaining species will either die off or overpopulate. Basically both are major issues even if ignorant @$$es like you fail to recognize them.

I'd love to care for endangered species as much as the next PETA supporter, but global warming is putting the endangerment on everyone.

Yes, it is a trend. Yes, it has been happening for 18000 years plus.

If it's been happening for 18000 years don't you think maybe, just maybe, it's part of nature. Or how about contemplate that the sun is pulling the earth closer, and has been doing so for 18000 years plus. Just like any round object, the closer to the middle, the faster it goes around, the faster it goes, the more heat is generated.

CO2 is not the cause of global warming, if that were true, then you breathing out is causing it. Would you like to do your part and stop breathing?

global cooling is next up. just like those arguements of coke isn't good for you.... now researchers are saying coke is good for you.

(i'm sure coca-cola would love to quote me on that)

after endangered species.... following next should be over-population of non-dominant/ sub-dominant species.
