True Christians do not harbor these things because the Bible particularly in the New Testament teaches us to forgive and to settle our differences if at all possible peacefully. Jesus came so that we can all have salvation. It is written that God desires no one to perish. So, why do some Christians seemingly harbor hate and racist views, it is because Christians are flawed human beings as well as the rest of humanity. Jesus didn't force his way of life or beliefs on anyone. He didn't try to sway government policies or politics. He came to serve other people and die for their transgressions. As a matter of fact, the people that give Jesus the most trouble during his life were not sinners, but so called religious leaders who were just as oppressive as the government was at that time. Basically, people are just flawed. So don't throw away the message because of the actions of the messengers.

I'm sorry, but when you make a general statement like that, you sound ignorant. Try actually meeting and talking to some real Christians, instead of just believing the horrible media coverage of people holding up pickets signs and church leader sinning. You may be surprised to find most Christians are not like that at all. People will believe anything the media tells them, convincing society everyone in a certain group is the same way.

Christianity does not harbor hatred and racism, Men seeking the goal of power over others have brought that into Christianity. Same goes for Islam. Neither face embraces it, however at times the men leading that faith have embraced racism, hatred and crusading.
Men will use whatever tool they can to gain power over other men. Many years ago they altered the bible to suit their purpose. Same thing in Islam.

Once again we get to the fact that truth is ephemeral and fleeting.

It seems to me that your stereotyping Christians that you hang around or know. There will always be haters and racism until people can find what they are missing in their life. If a person has GOD in there life as well as in their heart, there is a chance they are at peace with themselves. But it is so hard for any individual not to hate in one form or another because of the simple fact that there are too many people with too many definitions to what the Bible really says. If you are a Christian, why don't you show the individuals you speak of how to love by loving them, regardless of what they may preach.

Not all Christians harbor hatred and racism any more than all gays are riotous activists or African Americans are welfare moochers.

It is a shame there are those few, though (Westboro Baptist Church under Fred Phelps, for example). But, true Bible believing Christians are or at least should not be racist or hate filled. It goes against scripture, quite clearly.

Not all of us are in the same boat. If you knew me or the people I know, you would see your question is prejudicial, at best.

Are you a resident of the USA? I thought in your country racism no longer exists because the Constitution protects its citizens' personal freedoms. Also, I'm told that religious affiliation is not compulsory so I have to ask you to clarify what do you mean by evil.
By the way, if you want to blame God for humanitys failings go right ahead but I must tell you it will not solve that problem.
Problems are solved by accepting responsibility and formulating solutions. If you think anyone hates you then do something to change their minds. That course of action will at least produce some results. Blaming God will produce no results at all.

Not all of us do, dear.

A Christian should be humble ... but that's the problem with telling some people that they're following the only true faith. They put themselves on a pedastal and look down on everyone else, with the mindset that their salvation makes them so much better and holier.

Its much easier to see the flaws -- real or supposed -- of others when you ignore your own life because you think that your fate is already taken care of. People are fallible. I've found that its better to view them as individuals, and not members of particular groups.

I don't know which Christians you have met so far, but the Bible teaches Christians to "love one another" and "love your neighbor as yourself" God commands us to love one another, and He never once discriminates against anyone. You should try looking through the Bible sometime. Whoever hates is not a real Christian.

Christians aren't like that, whacko's are like that. Just because they call themselves christian doesn't mean they are. Using Westboro Baptist church as a christian example is like using China as an example of democracy. People like to focus on the loonies in order to spread anti-christian hatred for whatever reason, usually around here its just kids who think its fun to bash christians. Hatemongering has no religion affiliation, its simply evil in all its disguises.

Why do people misconstrue our sharing faith with hatred and racism? I do not hate anyone of any religion or race. I do not agree with the things they believe in. I share my faith and my love for Christ because I want everyone to experience heaven along with me. I do agree that there are hateful and racist christians and others alike. Some are false converts, some are very new in their faith and some are just liars as they do not really know Jesus. Please do not base your desire of Christianity on the way you see "some" behaving. I assure you it is not the way most Christians act!!
