I would go with two 13 x 9 inch pans, stacked on top of each other. My son works in a bakery and they use 10 inch pans. They each have three layers of cake. They get 12 servings out of this cake, but they are huge due to it being three layers. I used to be the official birthday cake maker at my work and I would make the two 13 x 9 cakes and there was more than enough due to being able to cut the pieces smaller since you have two cakes instead of one.

I worked in a bakery as a cake decorator. One 9 X 13 cake will serve 24 people.

In my experience, women take one slice of cake because it looks more proper and they don't want to gain weight. And guys will easily gobble down two pieces.
