I suppose then that you are unaware of the cosomolical constant and the multiplied layers of order which are simply not sufficiently explained by modern cosmology? On the one hand, I suppose you can point to the laws of physics and postulate that things have happened this way because they must, but if the universe came about purposelessly and by chance, then an infinite number of universes were possible. I have yet to see any scientific explanation for the origins of the universe that did not stem from ignorance, and this argument is not different. How on earth do you have any idea of what the universe would look like without God?
Lastly, you have committed a logical error: God did not make himself apparent by means of the universe, then there is no God. This assumes that God is required to make himself known in order to be real. If I find someone dead of a bullet to the head, but I can find no other trace of the killers whereabouts or identity, am I free to conclude that there is no killer? Should I postulate that the bullet just poofed into existence in his head?

Forgive me when I say you are quite bright, but awfully presumptuous.
May I humbly ask you how you know the two universes would be alike. Do you have access to the two blueprints?
To the heart of the Question at hand.
In the beginning their was darkness.
There came a resonance from the within the darkness that exclaimed, "Is this all there is?". This was the formation of what we call consciousness. Awareness from within. And from this resonance there also arose that which we call energy. It was widespread throughout the darkness. The energy accumulated in a small area. From this energy there emerged light (Divine Consciousness), caused from the friction within. The friction within was caused by the yearning to solve the question, "Is this all there is?". A divine headache
so to say.
This light grew in Divine Consciousness and decided to send out small rays of light, particles from within this Divine Consciousness. These rays of light are the means by which this Divine Consciousness experiences life as we know it. Thus the question, "Is this all there is?", is constantly being answered.
Every human is endowed with one of these particles, our power source, called by man, the Soul.
If the Soul is removed from the human body, the body returns to the earth from which it came.
God has many names, but for the moment we will use the word God.
If God had not been creative and formed the universe as we
perceive it, you and I might not be communicating.
In closing I will try to honor what ever belief you might have and say this: "May the wind be always at your back."

The same reason Satan planted dinosaur fossils in 200 million year old rock layers. Its fun for uber-beings from beyond time and space to mindfreak the talking monkeys from planet Earth.
Of course the alternative explanation would be that patriarchal religions cooked up by pre-scientific Canaanite goat-herders sqautting around a campfire have as much chance of accurately reflecting reality as a chimpanzee in a zoo has of duplicating the Mona Lisa by throwing its feces at the wall of the habitat.

Okay. From your question you presuppose God exists so there's no need to establish he does. If that is the case how could you possibly know what a universe would be like without God? Everything you would base it on would be based on principles God created and set into motion. I've read numerous works of science fiction with models of a universe that works much different than our own, but alas we have this one, the one that God created.

That's an interesting proposition. However, you are making an assumption that the universe would have looked the way it does without God in it. That unfortunately cannot be proven.
You are no better off than the creationists in that regard.

Because God uses natural processes to orchestrate the creation of the Universe. Basically, using physics, gravity, etc... God has done (and is doing) his work.
People like to think of God as some giant magician in the Sky, but that is ridiculous. God is the creator of logic and reason, which are great ways of obtaining truth. Through these means he has tamed the physical laws (he pre-dates them) and used them to create what he wills.
God is the ultimate, loving scientist. With his infinite understanding he has created a universal system that, under the watch of his careful eye, basically creates itself. Think about it. If he is all knowing (which he is), he would be intelligent enough to create something that is self sustaining. Then he could focus on other things and only use his influence on the creative process when he needed to.

I know! Because of the divine hiddenness doctrine. See if you knew for sure god was real, then you wouldn't have free will!
And alternately, God IS apparent in the world if only you look for him and let him into your heart. (Note: this method requires blinding yourself to all the evil in the world and the 10 million children who die of hunger-related causes every year but that's because Eve ate that apple or something)
It doesn't make sense to me either. That's why I'm an atheist.

Huh? Confusing question. How in the world would we know what the universe would look like without him? Actually - there wouldnt be any universe without him!

He gave you free will. There is nothing to prove or disprove God exists so you have a fair chance of choosing either way. Nothing to sway you either way. However, once you decide to accept him you will start to see his hand work in your life and it will be all the proof you need.
