It okay to be fearful. But you really need to get this done. It could be a lot of little things but you want to get it taken care of in case it is something big.
You could just have a really bad infection.
Did you have your spleen removed? If some it is sometimes normal for the white cell count to be evaluated. I have my spleen out and my count is always up

I am telling you the truth, a pap smear is nothing. It takes two seconds to do and you wait in the waiting room longer than anything. The nurse gives you a gown and asks you some med. questions. The dr. then checks your breasts, pelvis, then inserts the plastic thing to open you up a bit-that can be uncomfortable if you don't relax, then he takes a swab and inserts it for a specimen and that's it. Ask all your questions, during this exam. It takes your mind off of it. Everyone gets it done.

I am always having these tests and my red cells come in various shapes and sizes, roulex and so on. Likewise I have Atypical Lymphocytes and Monocytes, but I am still here, still alive and they even followed up with a Bone Marrow Biopsy and took a chip of bone, but I am still here. No do not be scared, worried or anxious, it will all come out in the wash. My test started in 1994 and now we are in 2007.

I would be worried. . . but, also a little bit hopeful. WBCs can be elevated for a couple of months from low-grade infections, so its too soon to think this is something more serious. If the high counts continue, then it becomes more likely that it could be a sign of something going wrong.

You have EVERY right to be fearful, but don't forget to be hopeful too. It could be nothing "scary",in fact, if it was, the docs wouldn't be waiting a month between "looks"....

Carpe Diem!
