Tip many woman during the civil war passed themselves off as guys just so they could go fight and be with their boyfriends or husbands, or because they just wanted to get away from home etc.!

Yes, the Picts, Scotti and Scythians didn't think twice about it, and so did the Celts with Bouducci kicking Roman butt until they got so preoccupied with looting they were eventually defeated. Both the American Revolution and Civil War had women in male uniforms. But generally women getting hurt or captured in combat is demoralizing to their male compatriots so they try and keep them off the battle lines. Although blue painted or tattooed naked female warriors may be just the solution to the Iraq war...............

Everyday we have females fighting for us over in Iraq, a couple years ago we had one female soldier who was the first to recive the silver star for her actions while engaged in combat there.

The only MOS in the army that allows females to go into direct combat in Iraq or anywhere in the world is 31b (Military Police).

This is to Natty, Jessica Lynch was NOT the first female POW. She was the first POW/MIA to be rescued in Operation: Iraqi Freedom. There were many before her, including as far back as the civil war.

Women are fighting everyday overseas to protect the freedom of every single American.
