A lot of war is started that has nothing to do with religion.
Would the world be a more peaceful place without Atheists and non-believers?
Why not leave people alone?

War is started over a difference of opinions. Religion related or not. Without religion, the world in terms of warfare would be no different. People would just find something else to bicker about.

In my opinion without any religion people would find something else to fight for, religion is just an excuse to fight and a manipulatory instrument to control uneducated people. Now if mankind would have common sense and would learn that sometimes is better to do your bussiness and shut the .... up , dont impose what u belive on others, dont kill or harm people cause its retarded, there wouldnt be any wars....good luck with that, there will always be jhon bob who will want to beat lil jimmy cause hes smaller....sad humankind...im ashamed to be a man really :|

A lot of wars are fought over ethnicity, political ideology, and land disputes, so really without humanity in general the world would be a more peaceful place.

No, a lot of war is not started over religion.
I always like this question - this is one case where we actually have an objective answer. Just look back into 20th century history and study the relationship between religious devotion, atheism, agnosticism, existentialism, communism, violence and human rights.
While you're at it, read up on the causes of wars.

Religion and religious labels are man made. Even if it wasn't for religion, the world would still be a nasty place to live due to the nature of how the human minds interact.
Everything is made up of the human mind :-)

As an atheist, I'm the first to say no.
Religion has functioned as an excuse for humans to kill each other; but take away that excuse, and they'd simply come up with another.
The reason why religion is so easily employed to such ends, though, is that religion is irrational, and based on purely imaginary concepts. You can convince young men to fly planes into buildings, e.g., by appealing to their emotions and their deepest-seated hopes and fears via religion, and nobody can rationally criticize away that sense of conviction, because it's not based on reason - it's based on "faith."
Faith - "the evidence of things unseen," quoth St Paul. Things like the 72 virgins. And that's why religion is reprehensible - it motivates people by deluding them.
If we're going to fight, we may as well fight for valid reasons - or at least for honest reasons. "We want your resources" or "We just like to fight, so let's go" rings a lot truer than "My God hates your god."

If it wasn't for religion, many people would be panicked at the thought of death, and where they go after. Religion gives them some comfort in believing in something after they're gone...
All that aside....many people are unwilling to believe that their deity of choice is not "the best deity" to believe in, and you'll always have people claiming "my god is better than your god". People kill for this reasoning.

In so many ways that is true. Religion breeds alot of things. As I said religion is a waste of time. We miss the big picture which is Christ and focus on religion which does nothing for us but divide and deceive.

Yes! But is all part of a transitory stage for humanity.
Religion was born out of ignorance. So the more we evolve intellectually the less need we have for superstitions and supernatural believes!
