I've always wondered this, and I'm constantly being tempted by it. Is it wrong for me to engage in such acts. I know many claim to be christian but still drink, I've just always been weary. Can anyone help me with this? And if it is "unchristian", than why?
Is it in any scripture anywhere?

No. Drinking alcohol does not make you any less of anything. What the bible talks about is the sin of excess. As long as you are not drinking to the point of drunkenness, and losing sight of the things that make you a socially conscious and responsible person, alcohol is not a big deal ( at all).

Many christian (so-called) religious people do alot of unholy things and thats why you have to be vigilant for the truth.
Ask yourself this question do you think doing anything to access is good for you, such as drinking.
Yeah know alot of people who think they know Gods word really have never listened to it. There are things in the Bible written in there for our own good. Example, why do you suppose it is a sin to be glutenous....... because its not attractive to sit at the table time after time and pig out in front of everyone. Nah, don't think thats it. Question for you... ever been really overweight, do you know what that does to your health....you can ruin it and can never get the same body back even by loosing weight and you can haveserious medical problems for the rest of your life. Thats just naming one thing from the Bible. So it's not so much that its unchristian its more for your better interest in the long run. Theres alot too the Bible, some say its a guide to living life.

Drinking alcohol is not a sin ... but if you aren't careful, it can influence you to do sinful things. When you're intoxicated, you're more likely to focus on what you want to do instead of what God would want you to do.

I'm a Christian, and I have a few drinks every now and then. I never allow myself to get drunk and act in ways that are contrary to my faith.

Also, remember that as a Christian, others are constantly watching your actions. There are people out there who would love nothing more than to be able to call you a hypocrite. Don't give them any extra ammunition.

Truthfully, it is not wrong to drink alcoholic beverages. One of Jesus first miracles was turning water to wine at a wedding party. It was alcoholic because after he did it the host of the party said "you've saved the best for last, most people bring out the cheap wine after people have had too much to drink. " If it wasn't alcoholic, how could people have had too much to drink. The Bible warns against getting drunk and being addicted to alcohol. Remember this too, grape juice had no choice but to ferment during that time because there were no presevatives to prevent from doing so. I hope I have helped with you this.

There are several instances that speak against being a drunkard, and avoiding strong drink. But there is none whatsoever stating that it is a sin to drink alcohol. Everything in the balance, my friend. Some people that know they have a problem should avoid alcohol. That's just wise. An occasional drink does not fall into that category, though.

Our bodies are gifts from God and we are to treat them with respect. Drinks containing alcohol are harmful to the body and shouldn't be used. Alcohol is addictive and makes slaves of its users. It can affect your mind and make you irresponsible, potentially causing harm to yourself and others.

In other ages of the world, alcoholic drinks such as wine were safer than much of the water due to bacteria and other pollutants. There is no reason to risk the dangers today.

16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
(1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

In 1833 God gave to the prophet Joseph Smith a revelation that included among other things the admonition to not consume alcoholic drinks. Im christian also and I always feel bad If I do, because we are brought up to not do such a a thing. I always want to ask my preacher who use to chew if he thinks its bad, because both substances are harming your body (the chewing and the driking that is), I mostly think that it is the choices that most people decide to make while under the influence is sinfull, but I dont really know for sure on this one.

It doesn't make you less Christian, it makes you less Christ-like.

When Jesus turned water to "wine" in the Bible he turned it into something more like grape juice... not wine as we think of it today.

Pay attention to those feelings... they are from the Holy Spirit helping you to know drinking isn't good for the body... We are to treat the body as a temple.

Mormons don't drink at all... in Doctrine and Covenants section 89 it says strong drinks are not for the belly.

Actually drinking comes up a lot in the Bible, so many Christians (unless they are really conservative) drink, however, you should also be concerned with the brain damage, and liver problems associated with excessive alcohol use. Drinking is a good thing, in moderation, but the Bible does say things about excessive drinking.
